Terrorist Nukes in America

Posted on 01/02/2006 6:02:05 PM PST by TexasPatriot8

I got this from my cousin's husband over the holidays and thought I'd post it. It may be old news, but it was new to me, and sent chills up my spine, and still does. God help us if this ever happens. It literally could bring about the collapse of the United States, and at the very least, the country would never be the same again.

And while all this is going on, democrats are doing all they can to kill those 14 provisions of the Patriot Act, taking the CIA, NSA, and FBI to pre-9/11 rules where intelligence gathering applies. MADNESS!!! SHEER MADNESS!!! If this is old and everyone already seen this, please excuse. I'm new.

The search for nukes in Washington, D.C. Government monitors radiation levels at 100 Muslim mosques, homes, sites

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. government has been monitoring radiation levels at more than 100 mosques, homes, businesses and other sites in and around the nation's capital and at least five other cities since Sept. 11, 2001, providing further evidence law enforcement officials suspect terrorists have secreted nuclear or radiological weapons inside the country.

On July 11, 2005, we first reported on al-Qaida's decade-long plans to detonate nuclear devices in seven major U.S. cities simultaneously in an operation it calls "American Hiroshima."

In numerous cases, reports U.S. News, the monitoring required investigators to go on to the property under surveillance, although no search warrants or court orders were ever obtained.

The nuclear surveillance program began in early 2002 and has been run by the FBI and the Department of Energy's Nuclear Emergency Support Team, or NEST, according to the report.

The other cities monitored include Chicago, Detroit, Las Vegas, New York, and Seattle.

As reported, former FBI consultant Paul L. Williams describes how al-Qaida has already purchased some post-Soviet mini-nukes and hired Russians to help them operate them. The report was first published in Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin, the premium, online intelligence newsletter.

Al-Qaida's prime targets for launching nuclear terrorist attacks are the nine U.S. cities with the highest Jewish populations, according to captured leaders and documents.

As first revealed last week in the G2 Bulletin, Osama bin Laden is planning what he calls an "American Hiroshima," the ultimate terrorist attack on U.S. cities, using nuclear weapons already smuggled into the country across the Mexican border along with thousands of sleeper agents.

The series of attacks is designed to kill 4 million, destroy the economy and fundamentally alter the course of history.

At least two fully assembled and operational nuclear weapons are believed to be hidden in the United States already, according to G2 Bulletin intelligence sources and an upcoming book, "The al-Qaida Connection: International Terrorism, Organized Crime and the Coming Apocalypse," by former FBI consultant Paul L. Williams.

The cities chosen as optimal targets are New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Chicago, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Boston and Washington, D.C. New York and Washington top the preferred target list for al-Qaida leadership.

Osama bin Laden's goal, according to G2 Bulletin sources, is to launch one initial attack, followed by a second on another city to simulate the U.S. bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The optimal dates for the attacks are Aug. 6, the anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing, Sept. 11 and May 14, the anniversary of the re-creation of the state of Israel in 1948.

The captured terrorists and documents also suggest smaller attacks may take place on American soil before the nuclear incidents. They may include some involving automatic weapons at schools and shopping malls, but will not include any airplane hijackings. Why? Because bin Laden does not want any failed efforts to overshadow "the success of Sept. 11." There will also not be any attacks on U.S. nuclear power plants. The rationale? The nuclear power plants can act as force multipliers when the weapons of mass destruction are detonated.

Another requirement dictated from the top at al-Qaida is that the attacks take place in daylight, so that the whole world will be able to see the images of a mushroom cloud over an American city.

One of the sources for the information is Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the chief planner of the Sept. 11 attacks, who is now in U.S. custody.

As previously reported by G2 Bulletin, al-Qaida has obtained at least 40 nuclear weapons from the former Soviet Union - including suitcase nukes, nuclear mines, artillery shells and even some missile warheads. In addition, documents captured in Afghanistan show al-Qaida had plans to assemble its own nuclear weapons with fissile material it purchased on the black market.

U.S. military sources also say there is evidence to suggest al-Qaida is paying former Russian special forces "Spetznaz" troops to assist the terrorist group in locating nuclear weapons planted in the U.S. during the Cold War. Osama bin Laden's group is also paying nuclear scientists from Russia and Pakistan to maintain its existing nuclear arsenal and assemble additional weapons with the materials it has invested hundreds of millions in procuring over a period of 10 years. Al-Qaida sources indicate they would prefer to use Russian-made weapons for symbolic reasons.

The plans for the devastating nuclear attack on the U.S. have been under development for more than a decade. It is designed as a final deadly blow to the U.S., which is seen by al-Qaida and its allies as "the Great Satan."

At least half the nuclear weapons in the al-Qaida arsenal were obtained for cash from the Chechen terrorist allies.

But the most disturbing news is that high level U.S. officials now believe at least some of those weapons have been smuggled into the U.S. for use in the near future in major cities as part of this "American Hiroshima" plan.

According to Williams, former CIA Director George Tenet informed President Bush one month after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks that at least two suitcase nukes had reached al-Qaida operatives in the U.S.

"Each suitcase weighed between 50 and 80 kilograms (approximately 110 to 176 pounds) and contained enough fissionable plutonium and uranium to produce an explosive yield in excess of two kilotons," wrote Williams. "One suitcase bore the serial number 9999 and the Russian manufacturing date of 1988. The design of the weapons, Tenet told the president, is simple. The plutonium and uranium are kept in separate compartments that are linked to a triggering mechanism that can be activated by a clock or a call from the cell phone."

According to the author, the news sent Bush "through the roof," prompting him to order his national security team to give nuclear terrorism priority over every other threat to America.

However, it is worth noting that Bush failed to translate this policy into securing the U.S.-Mexico border through which the nuclear weapons and al-Qaida operatives are believed to have passed with the help of the MS-13 smugglers. He did, however, order the building of underground bunkers away from major metropolitan areas for use by federal government managers following an attack.

Bin Laden, according to Williams, has nearly unlimited funds to spend on his nuclear terrorism plan because he has remained in control of the Afghanistan-produced heroin industry. Poppy production has greatly increased even while U.S. troops are occupying the country, he writes. Al-Qaida has developed close relations with the Albanian Mafia, which assists in the smuggling and sale of heroin throughout Europe and the U.S.

Some of that money is used to pay off the notorious MS-13 street gang between $30,000 and $50,000 for each sleeper agent smuggled into the U.S. from Mexico. The sleepers are also provided with phony identification, most often bogus matricula consular ID cards indistinguishable from Mexico's official ID, now accepted in the U.S. to open bank accounts and obtain driver's licenses.

According to Williams' sources, thousands of al-Qaida sleeper agents have now been forward deployed into the U.S. to carry out their individual roles in the coming "American Hiroshima" plan.

The content was what disturbed me, and since it references a previous article from July 11th, 2005, done before this one I posted, then it is no more than five months old, not very old really.

What disturbed me more than the content, was the fact that I hadn't heard any of these specifics at all. Not on the net, not in email till two weeks ago when I got this, not on the radio, or TV, nothing. THAT is scary. And it sure appears to be credible, given cited specific people who made comments, and sources where the information came from, FBI Consultant Williams, A recent G2 bulletin and that some of the info came from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed after he was captured.

The cousin's husband I got it from is constantly checking things on Truth of Fiction or Snopes or others, and he's constantly telling me things that are bogus and he's the one that sent it to me. I never get things from him that are bogus. That's why I thought I'd post it here, for those who hadn't read it. I didn't think those who had would let me know it. Not everyone has seen it. I hadn't, and I really keep plugged in during the week and hadn't seen this article. I was mostly disturbed by the prospects of it. VERY chilling.

Well just wait and see what happens when you misspell a word in your title... (Tip - ALWAYS use the FR spell checker)

You're on FR now. Just having fun :)

Back to the original topic, from everything I've read and seen, even if there were a suitcase nukes available there are too many things that make them nonfunctional unless maintained by a govt. with the proper technology.

"And, I said I was new, so if it was old, I didn't know. That's why I said it. :)"

It is old but, that's okay. We have new people here who haven't seen it before.

BTW, welcome to FR.

Do you always ride new people like this, or is tonight special? :) I made it clear, that it was more the content I was disturbed by, and I was not posting it because it was breaking news or as an article, since I didn't have the writers name. I did it as a "vanity" and in the "War on Terror" part, which seemed appropriate since I didn't have the authors name or the paper which it was printed in. When I find that out, I was planning to add it.

It appears to be a recent article from somewhere since it mentions a previous article from July of 2005, not that long ago. In any case, surely you don't expect a new member to know all the comings and goings from previous years, or what all posts have been made or their content? That's why I said if this was old, sorry. I mean, I was posting it because the possibility of the content disturbed me and I had yet to read something that was so specific and detailed with an actual intelligence source cited. That was the main reason I posted it because the possibility of something that specific happening is really scary. So, given that, maybe you could back off a little please? Thanks. I only joined a bit ago over Christmas, and sure wasn't posting this to get chewed on because I didn't dot my I's or cross my T's in the first thread I made. :) You likely didn't know what all everyone had ever talked about on here back when you joined, and you probably wouldn't have liked someone fussing at you like you're doing, right? :) Thanks a bunch.

IMHO, we've always assumed that whatever power or authority that might have control over WMD would have enough wherewithal to comprehend the consequences of their behavior with such devices. In situations where lessor authority had such power, it is generally viewed that if those responsible for their use are unreachable or incommunicato, then those higher in authority would recognize their importance and hold them accountable.

If we live in a world where small imam-led groups are able to control such power, then IMHO, we need an intelligence gathering capacity, perhaps amongst all powers and authorities to track those with such power and hold them accountable.

Hi, thank you. :) Any idea how old it is? It's scary that someone like me, that keeps up with the war and politics daily hasn't heard of it. I mean, between talk radio while I'm working, FOX news when I'm home, emails and web updates from friends and family, and conservative groups and friends in the war, and the local news paper, it really scares me that I hadn't heard about that specific article until weeks or months after it was done. Even if it isn't more specific, Americans need to know about the potential reality of that happening. I fully expect that sometime in the next 10 to 20 years, there will be a nuclear weapon detonated in an American city. With the fanatical nature of the terrorists, and nuclear technology being nearly as widespread today as the internal combustion engine was 80 years ago, it seems to be a question of when, not if. And I don't believe most American have really sat and thought about that. If they had, the outcry would be so loud against the democrats, that the Patriot Act provisions would already be permanent. Especially since there is not a single example of anyone's civil rights having had been "violated" or even bent by the Patriot Act. But that's the liberals for you, repeat a lie long enough and many people will accept it as truth. There needs to be an I.Q. test to be registered to vote. Truly there does.

check out some of the FR "Threat Matrix" threads - they go back for years, covering lots of issues regarding terrorism issues in the US.

regarding some of the points your cousin made - soon after 9-11, there was a "tip" that one of these nukes was on its way to NYC. many people got the "tip", one of them being author Christopher Hitchens who went public about it (he didn't believe it).

the bottom line is this - an organization that had all these nukes this claim alleges, would be using them. even the weapons they used on 9-11 - they had to hijack them to obtain. why?

maintaining and hiding a real nuke is not an easy task. there is more to fear from a dirty bomb - you just need material and regular explosives to disperse it.

Many of those things mentioned have been around for years, in the form of dialogs, L/MSM postings, talk shows whatever. That is why some responded as they had. Just because you haven't heard something mentioned in say the past two years on a talk show or current news article does not mean it has not been made public say five or more years ago.
At any rate. You are now informed. Please don't lose sleep over it. Seriously. Let us all prayerfully hope the law inforcement and Intel agencies are getting better equiped to attempt to catch plots from getting beyond that point.
Besides there is nothing we can do about it. The congress is fully aware, even the stupidest amoung them. All you can do is inform perhaps some dimwits with your new found knowledge of the importance of not allowing congress or anyone else to hinder the efforts our intel and law enforcment agencies in their duties to stop bad things from happening. In short given the opportunity inform those that think the crap the L/MSM spouts off on the issue of security verses privacy to be carefull of what they hear. Then site some of your new found knowledge to them. If they wish to not listen you did your duty. Wipe the dust off your shoes and move on.

The problem is, if the terrorists do nuke an American city or cities some day, exactly where do we retaliate? Much as the "Texan" in me would like to nuke Mecca and Medina and every other muslim city with over 500,000 people, the Christian in me, which is first and foremost, knows clearly that CANNOT be done. You don't murder civilians 10-1 or 100-1 or 1000-1 compared to the terrorists that would be killed in that kind of retaliation. There are no terrorists cities that even half or more of the occupants are terrorists. And even if there were, unless a nation like China used nukes against us, I couldn't agree with the use of even tactical nuclear weapons in response to a terrorist nuclear attack on the U.S.. The radiation from even just a few nulcear weapons lasts for thousands of years and circles the globe for decades, eventually killing hundreds of thousands no where near the blast zone.

Even though the bombs used on Hiroshima and Nagasaki saved hundreds of thousands of American soldiers and Marines, compared to invading the Jap home islands, if WWII was today, I doubt we'd of used them, since in '45, no one knew squat about radiation. I mean, we used surplus warships to test nukes in the Pacific, and then had our guys walking the decks taking readings, they all got cancer and died in the years after. There's just no safe way to use them, especially if terrorists are the ones that use them. Very frustrating. I sure hope Bush gets his way and the Patriot Act is made permanent. Clearly the NSA, CIA, FBI and military intelligence have been doing an excellent job since 9/11. That needs to continue and the Patriot Act as it is now is the only way to make that happen.

your assertion about detonating nuclear weapons fallout "killing hundreds of thousands no where near the blast zone" is incorrect. there were dozens and dozens of above ground nuclear tests througout the world before the test ban treaties.

A dirty bomb wouldn't kill near as many people, or cause as much destruction, or spread radiation over as small an area, and wouldn't give the terrorists what they want most. Shock value. A mushroom cloud is ultimately what they want. I don't think anyone would argue that given the choice, the terrorists would rather have a nuclear explosion over a major metropolitan area than a dirty bomb that you can't even see the effects of.

And really, you're missing the point of my posting that article. I was not posting it because I thought it was "breaking" or even newer than the past couple weeks. And I wasn't posting it because I believed it to be totally accurate word for word how it WILL occur. I was posting it because the way it was lined out in that article, 100% fact or not, is chilling, no matter how new or old it is, and just the idea of it happening even somewhat like that, is chilling to the bone, and would cause irrepairable damage to the country, and if it was a 9 or more city attack like that article supposes, it could cause the collapse of the United States. The possibility of that was why I posted it, and I was posting it for people like me that hadn't seen that particilar article, to get their opinions. I wasn't posting it for those who had already seen it, or ones like it, so they could tell me what I already knew, that it wasn't breaking new, or that the possibility of nukes being used by terrorists had been talked about a couple years ago. I already knew both of those things. And they weren't why I posted it. :) Thanks though.

Incorrect? So you're telling me that there were not hundreds of thousands of people in Japan who got cancer and other diseases who were not in the blast zones, and how suddenly in the later generations, people who lived in those areas suddenly had huge increases in cancer are not true? Or the military personnel who were in close proximity after nuclear blasts that were exposed to the lingering radiation didn't die? I am telling you, it is a known scientific fact that after several nuclear detonations, the radioactive cloud from them would drift with the wind currents, and in the decades to come, would cause the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people by causing terminal cases of cancer that they otherwise would not have had.

Gamma radiation is a vicious unforgiving monster and it takes months or years to dissipate in the atmosphere and even just a few blasts, even from tactical warheads, not strategic city-buster type warheads, would drift around, and anyone in their path if they hover for a while, would be effected months or years later. If there had ever been a full out maximum exchange between the U.S. and Soviet Union, and the U.K., France, China, Israel, India, Pakistan if they used theirs also, with a maximum spread focused on population centers on all sides, that radiation cloud from those hundreds or thousands of separate detonations would drift all around the world with the wind currents, and anyone not killed by the blasts, or from the subsequent lack of safe water or food, would die in the years to come as all that radiation circled the globe. Gamma radiation doesn't just fade in hours or days. A few or more detonations would kill hundreds or thousands in the years to come, even a decade or more. It would be deaths from cancer or deformations, but what caused those cancers and deformations would be that radioactive soup that drifted invisibly with the winds after the actual explosions. It’s scientific fact which has been proven after 60 years of post Manhattan Project testing and research. The more detonations, the more people will die years later from the after effects, depending on the wind currents and yield of the fission devices detonated. I don't understand why, but you seem determined to tell me nothing I say is correct. I know what I'm talking about.

yes - "in those areas" or "in the blast zones".

are you claiming that nuclear testing in the 50s and 60s directly "killed hundreds of thousands" around the world from fallout?

It makes me want to throw-up being resigned to the reality of something so terrible like that happening. God help us. I can't even fully fathom the impact on the country, the people, the infrastructure, the economy, the world, if that happens in the U.S., and I know more than I'd like about theoretical nuclear war, the effects, and how to deal with it.

Just the thought of it happening in just one city makes my head spin. I can't even begin to think how to tackle it if if happened in several, or as many as nine or more major cities. 4 to 10 million people just gone, not counting those in the vicinity that would die in the coming years because of the radiation drift. And basically you can only cover over the areas with radiation levels that don't drop under 3 or 4 Rads, fence that area off, and consider it unlivable for the next ten centuries or more. You don't just make the after effects of a nuclear explosion go away.

And liberals worry about the "bomb" being in our hands for 60 years and thought that Reagan was going to get us all glowing in the dark, but where's their concern for the terrorists who could give a flip about killing millions of woman and children, even some muslims if they're in target U.S. cities. Madness.
