Wow. I've been off the web for a couple of days and was thrilled to see a 400 reply thread. Then I read it ...

When I started the team there was no official sanction from Jim. He didn't much seem to care either way. So it began.

The fact that this thread has not been pulled is a good indication of his feelings. Don't insult others, don't embarrass Free Republic and do good. There are all kinds of specialty threads that do not pertain to politics and they co-exist with FR just fine.

I happen to be an old timer on the board, lurking since sometime in 97 or 98. I believe that Free Republic is a worthy endeavor and support the aim of the website, even if I don't agree with all of the politics or the flame wars.

Does Jim truly understand the entire Stanford effort? Probably not. That's OK since he has a different perspective than we do of the project. His job is to maintain FR. That we have a place to meet on his board is good enough for me.

Folding@Home is a worthy effort and I do what I can to keep it rolling. I do not have the time or knowledge to duplicate what systematic, Malsua, papasmurf or Klutz has done. I try to start a new thread every week (usually Sundays) and fortunately systematic and Klutz have been able to start midweek threads.

Bottom line to me is that I want to keep the team under the Free Republic banner, unless Jim or John specifically request that we change. Yes, I would love to have a banner on the home page of FR. Not having the home page banner will not change my views one bit.

Folding@Home is worth my spare CPU cycles and Free Republic is worth my spare time. If we can provide free advertising for FR then that is great. If we tweak DU and Kos even better. I like being part of a project that is bigger than myself.

I and my two processors are with you. I appreciate your comments and agree with them.

Well, you should FReepmail him then rather than do it in the open forum.

If you skipped over some of the thread you should read from about 200 - 250. He was pretty explicit that he wanted none of this.

Texas, You don't do yourself justice.:)

I would not be folding if it were not for you, and the joy of knowing I'm actually a part of something so good really makes it all worthwhile.

As I stated early this am, whatever the team decides (as far as folding goes), I'll go along with. I've emailed Systematic and Klutz let them know this as well. This includes my trucking friends, too.

It's my understanding that you and Systematic hold the "keys" and, therefore, are the ones to make decisions.

All Hail Texas Booster!!! You've done a very good thing, thanks.

:O)
