~The Dragon Flies' Lair~Poetry Thread XXIV~
January 2, 2006 | bentfeather/Poets of the Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

I'm glad you like it.

It is going to be part of my valentines gift to my "First Love."

8^)

On the "First kiss" group, I was debating about putting tingling and numb on the same line.

They seem to contradict one another, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought about the strange contradictions that arise with love. Also, I thought about how strange it could be that you could tingle on the inside, but feel numb to everything else.

Did it read similar to you?

NICE!

Your poem is multi-layered, and captures the often opposite ends of the spectrum humans find in love!

Compliments from you are always welcome, and poems are sweet gifts to my Lady Dragonfly

Oh no tingling and numb go together IMHO.

Tingle when thawing out as it were. ;)

First one sensation then the other.

Thank you. I don't know if I followed any particular known pattern, but I tried to make each "stanza"(?)similar in wording and style.

Picture in the Mind

Sunlight, just that moment at dusk, orange fire,
to highlight subtly the contours of her face.
I stop breathing, in wonder, mesmerized apace,
for the gallery of life has come alive amid the mire.

Shadows, tinted with soft highlights of serenity,
set her face a part, as if sculpted from fire.
I sit and watch, of such beauty I can’t ever tire,
and my interest in life loves the amenity.

Glowing with light, infused with life,
she is so alive, and captivatingly so.
I remember to breath and the moment goes,
a mental snapshot of time without strife.
