I'm starting to question how conservative Ed really is.

Give the man a break. His wife is VERY ill (apparently rejecting multiple transplants - prayers are in order).

I can understand his reaching out for the conventional wisdom, even lashing out at easy targets in frustration, but I suggest that under other circumstances he would reflect and reject the easy (and wrong) conclusions as presented here.

Frankly I didn't see this on his blog, which I check multiple times per day. I'm going to have to search and find this in context (if it's even there).

If he did post this, remember that he's stressed. I'm not being facetious. Step back and let things settle out.

In no particular order. . .

1. Bill Clinton -- everybody's favorite bad boy. Let us count the ways.

2. Jimmy Carter -- Ditto first comment.

3. Lyndon Johnson -- Guns, butter and fighting a war to not win it. We can see how well that turned out.

4. FDR -- The most vile, loathsome, disgusting human being who ever lived. Legitimized American institutional socialism like no one else could.

5. William Jennings Bryan -- Populism never worked. Not now. Not then. Not ever. Nobody cares about the great, unwashed scum of the world. Although he was on the right side of the Scopes trial.

6. Benedict Arnold -- Could have been a great American hero. Indeed, he was on his way to exactly that. Chose otherwise. To hell with him.

7. Abraham Lincoln -- took radical steps to destroy an institution (slavery) that would have collapsed on its own in time. And at a terrible cost. Cemented the power of the federal government at the expense of the sovereign rights of the states.

8. Janet Reno -- Waco, Elian Gonzalez. B!tch should be dangling from a rope.

9. Earl Warren -- One of the first socialist SCOTUS justices. Set the precedent for future rulings gutting the worship of God in the public schools.

10. Hillary Clinton -- Not so much for the damage she's done, but for the damage she could potentially do. Thank God, she doesn't have Bubba's charisma or power of persuasion.

Been told by a now deceased FBI agent and admire of J. Edgar that it was an open secret that Hoover was a homosexual.

The cross dressing rumors are probably untrue.

Whatever Hoover's sexual orientation, he was wise to keep his private life private. He was also the first American to push a nationwide awareness campaign about child molesters.

Good list, although I disagree about Lincoln. If I were in his shoes, I would have done the same thing.

The Southrons truly proved themselves to be a banana Republic through secession and the joke of a government set up in Richmond under Jefferson Davis. Davis, though a very honorable man in most aspects of life, was "not ready for prime time" when it came to the Presidency, and was cursed by most southerners for his incompetance in his position. Only after death did his reputation improve.

Verona Files? Its no more corrupt than other towns in New Jersey. Neighboring Montclair is far worse in terms of Communist infiltration. ;-)

While neither Nixon nor McCarthy are worthy of being called great, I wouldn't callthem "worst Americans"

Bill and Hillary Clinton surely have earned a high spot on the list.

As Americans?

Hillery #1 and Bill #2.

After the debacle of the White house Clinton's, Roger Clinton's lack of societal understanding was lost in the quagmire.

From what I've READ the guy had NO Sex life. Can provide you with a title if you wish. He was very attached to his mother and his work.

Maybe he was asexual, or a repressed gay. It didn't affect his work and I don't think it relevant. It can't proved one way or the other.

But I know it is a typical left-wing trick to accuse your opponents of being a gay or worse some kind of sexual pervert and/or drunk/drug user. Anything to damage a man's reputation.

"There is no hard evidence that Hoover was Gay."

Thanks. Didn't think so. Just another attempt by the left to read gay into everything.

Arlen 'Single/Pristine Bullet Theory' 'Scottish Law' 'Warren Report' 'Fixer' Sphincter should be waaaay up on the list.

Even now, when Arlen the Sphincter says he's going to look into something that needs to be looked into, he doesn't. That is why he is now being referred to as "The Undertaker" of this government. As soon as Arlen is put in charge of something that needs to be investigated........ IT IS BURIED.

Arlen, 'The Fixer' is one heeping load of compromised criminality.

"caused young Communists to reject the mainline communism and form their own more radical and violent, 1960s New Left."

The New Left was supported by the USSR of Breszhnev (sp?) and vice versa, and that wasn't the beginning of it. The Port Huron Statement calls for unilateral disarmament by the US, an obviously stupid idea that equally obviously would have served the interest of the heavily armed evil empire. :')

The New Left's Bernadine Dohrn (sp?) suggested from the SDS podium that it was "correct" to murder white babies. Eventually she founded the "Weathermen", a group which murdered some people, then after some years, sent a memorandum from her life on the run in which she said the name was changing to "Weather Underground" because "Weathermen" was "sexist".

The Straight Dope: Was J. Edgar Hoover a cross-dresser?
Cecil Adams
http://www.straightdope.com/columns/021206.html

"...as a matter of fact, the alleged transvestitism of John Edgar Hoover, director of the FBI from 1924 until his death in 1972, has never been established, and reputable historians say it's an urban legend. The story probably got its start because of much more plausible rumors that J. Edgar was gay. He and his right-hand man, Clyde Tolson, were constant companions for more than 40 years, even vacationing together, and both remained lifelong bachelors... The cross-dressing thing, however, is a definite no. The story appears in Official and Confidential: The Secret Life of J. Edgar Hoover (1993), a gossipy biography by British journalist Anthony Summers, who has also written a JFK assassination conspiracy book."

Was Abraham Lincoln gay?
Cecil Adams
http://www.straightdope.com/columns/040402.html

"On the one hand, Abe has merely joined the long list of famous parties dubiously outed by gay activists, who are presumably prompted by the same impulse that leads African-Americans to claim Cleopatra was black. (She was Macedonian Greek, in case you're wondering.)."

Yes, thanks for making it clear. No question that the New Left worked with and received support from the Soviets. Fonda, Kerry, all of them used the Soviets to hobnob and huddle with North Vietnam Communists.

If I remember Mr. Horowitz's "Radical Son" correctly it was a matter of no more complacent Uncle-Joe idealism and there was a radical shift by the impatient youth including taking up with Mao and beyond.

I am glad you reminded every one of the Soviet supporting the new left. It also gives me as chance to ask about Soviet disinformation and some of the crap I'm reading about men like Hoover whom we greatly respected way back then.

Yeah, Hoover was very aware of the public perception of the FBI (in fact, so were we all) and perhaps Hoover even had those famous files on the famous. But who in Washington does not have files of one sort or other?

Yes, I saw your post #98. What we have is very serious and folks should realize that if it's Cold War disinformation it ain't true. There's so damn much of it and it's woven into the fabric of our "intelligentsia" feeeeeeeeeeeeeeelings.

Yeah, Mao, Castro, Che... two down, one to go.

I don't expect much trouble from the cocaine dealer soon to be running Bolivia. The US gov't could kill two birds with one stone by buying the entire coca (and opium) crop and destroying it, or better yet, processing it and dumping some of it back into all Moslem countries, Russia, and China.
