"You will get flamed unmercifully for telling it like it is. There are a lot of people here who excuse anything South Park does, no matter how vile."

Let 'em flame. Defamations against Judaism developed repeatedly into massacres and mass expulsions over the past 1700 years or so. That's why I believe that we have a responsibility to avoid mindless ridicule against religions--even if it makes many people laugh.

Are you expecting any massacres or mass expulsions because of this cartoon?

Well then, this episode was ok. It wasn't a mindless ridicule against a religion, it was ridiculing people who worship idols, in particular the people who worship a grilled chees sandwich that may or may not look like the Virgin Mary.

Seems the market cleaned up this problem all by itself.

Comedy Central seemingly decided that continuing to air this episode would negatively effect its bottom line.

If in the future there is enough demand for it to be re-aired, I'm sure it will.

The system works.

As Rowan Atkison eloquently pointed out to the Parliament when an anti-religious humor law was being proposed recently in the UK (more muzzie appeasement which thankfully failed), most humor that is funny involves goring someone else's ox, said ox being religion more often than not.

I thought there were sound theological reasons for the massacres and mass expulsions of Jews - somethimg about their very existance offending Christians.
