Peter and Bobby Farrelly, the gross-out gurus behind Dumb and Dumber and There's Something About Mary are accusing South Park masterminds Trey Parker and Matt Stone of ripping off a movie idea.

How is that ripping off a brand new movie?

The Farrelly's are saying they cam up with the idea some 7 years ago and took their time developing the movie so they wouldn't offend the Special Olympics. They also claim they pitched the story to someone at Matt and Trey's production company.

I dunno what to think, I like both of the sides here. There's Something About Mary is one of my favorites and I'm a devout SPC.

It really is all about what is important to one in life.

However, I will disagree and say that I don't think these guys are going to go down as great writers, comedians, etc...however, they might in some people's worlds.

I believe they are only beginning. These guys are young, and they've 'got it'. I am increasingly impressed with their wit and talent. And I've actually seen it.

Being that it is the longest running show on Comedy Central and I would think one of the longest running on cable I think some people will remember it. Not to mention all the people who have bought the DVDs. The scary thing to think about is it may be on TV Land in 10 years.

Bingo. Anyone who says South Park lacks subtlety hasn't watched the show. It's how magicians work - they distract simpletons with big bold gestures and loud noises while they are busy working the trick in the background.
