Excuse the shameless and one once every six months vanity, but this Ipod Nano I got for Christmas Rocks!

I am no old goat (33 Years old), but this thing has to be one of the most amazing pieces of technology I've had in my hand in awhile. Downloaded an old 80's U2 video an the playback is flawless.

I used to be an Apple hater, but this has changed my mind. Go ahead a flame away Apple haters!

Best Buy offers a maintainance plan for three years that covers it. They told us that we would use it because we would need to replace the battery after about six months, guarenteed.

no problem. Good vanity. Get it out of your system. :o)

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time Nintendo DS game is so awesome! It really exploits the use of a 2-screen game system. I think I just might take up DS programming as a hobby; this game really shows that dual screens have the potential to revolutionize games.

I suppose this means my portable cassette player is now obsolete.

So long as you don't mind the Dolby subdued hiss... no... enjoy your cassettes.

Are you sure you have a Nano? I don't think they're supposed to be video-capable.

I understand because I really like my mini-ipod and I'm a grandma. I upgraded the earpieces to the kind that fit inside your eardrum. When you have those in, you hear nothing going on the outside even in an airplane. The technology is fantastic.

They told us that we would use it because we would need to replace the battery after about six months, guarenteed.

iPod Owners - Your one year warranty includes replacement coverage for a defective battery. You can extend your coverage to two years with AppleCare Protection Plan. During the second year, Apple will replace the battery if it drops below 50% of its original capacity. If it is out of warranty, Apple offers a battery replacement for $59, plus $6.95 shipping. Apple disposes your battery in an environmentally-friendly manner.
We have Freepers who are going on three years with their original batteries. Third parties are willing to replace the iPod batteries for less than $30 if it becomes necessary... or you can buy your own and replace it DIY for under $20. The battery is no longer an issue.

I prefer 8-track and Beta.

What I don't get abou them is this - why would anyone want to watch TV on that tiny little screen?

"Are you sure you have a Nano? I don't think they're supposed to be video-capable." You're right, I don't have the Nano. I have this one and it's video capable.

What's the difference between the Ipod and MP3 players that heve been around for more than half a decade? I'm not making an argument, I just asking. I bought a 20 meg MP3 player -- which is basically a small hard drive with an LCD display -- from Creative years ago, so what's new about the Ipod?

Portable cassette players were obsolete 20 yrs ago. Doesn't mean you can't still use and enjoy them. Just don't try an iPod, though - you'll never go back.

Same deal with TiVO and other DVRs - if you never try them, you'll never miss them. Try them for a week and it'll be tough doing without them.

My daughter got one yesterday. I think she's downloaded the Library of Congress, the entire Beatles collection and most movies from the turn of the century.
There must be a lot of tape in there . . .

Not long ago, I received a 20 gig iPOD click wheel model free. I enjoy its capabilities of backing up my contacts and other data. It also holds my entire music library as well. What a great device!

I also own three Apple Mac computers ...two laptops and a desktop on a home wireless network.

I didn't get my mp3 player for Christmas, so it's back to researching Sandisk or Samsung again. I only need one for podcasts -- so I need one that can be shut int he middle and restarted. (I won't always have 15-60 minutes to listen to these things.) This isn't something that's usually written on the package.

Anyway 512 or 1G will be good enough for me.
