The pealed the bells, both loud and deep,
"God is not dead nor doth he sleep!
The wrong shall fail, the right revail,
With Peace on Earth, Good Will to Men."

My favorite Christmas song, besides 'Santa and His Old Lady' by Cheech and Chong; I wish I could provide the actual audio, because I adore Amy Grant, and this is one of her best and most moving songs:

GROWN-UP CHRISTMAS LIST
(Foster / Thompson / Jenner)
Amy Grant - 1992

Do you remember me?
I sat upon your knee.
I wrote to you with childhood fantasies.
Well, I'm all grown up now,
But still need help somehow.
I'm not a chile but my heart still can dream.

So here's my lifelong wish,
My grown-up christmas list,
Not for myself, but for a world in need:

No more lives torn apart,
And wars would never start,
And time would heal all hearts.
Ev'ry one would have a friend,
That right would always win,
And love would never end:
This is my grown-up christmas list...

As children we believed
The grandest sight to see
Was something lovely wrapped beneash the tree.
Well, heaven surely knows
That packages and bows
Can never heal a hurting human soul.

No more lives torn apart,
And wars would never start,
And time would heal all hearts.
Ev'ry one would have a friend,
That right would always win,
And love would never end:
This is my grown-up christmas list...

What is this illusion called the innocence of youth?
Maybe only in our blind belief can we ever find the truth!

There'd be...
No more lives torn apart,
And wars would never start,
And time would heal all hearts.
Ev'ry one would have a friend,
That right would always win,
And love would never end:
This is my grown-up christmas list,
This is my only lifelong wish,

This is my Grown-up Christmas List!

Merry Christmas!

I'm letting Mr. P sleep in since we had a terrible thunderstorm here last night and it kept us up for quite a while.

We caught that thunderstom yesterday morning. Vicious little thing. Lasted about 3 hours and gave us prolly an inch or so of rain.

It rained as hard as I've ever seen it rain in the middle of the night. It was rather nice listening to it, but the lightening was intense.

The lightning woke me up, and I managed to run to the store before the really nasty stuff hit. Right now, it's a beautiful day, but you're right, the lightning was pretty heavy.

All the blessings of the season to you, ABG.

I've turned on all the lights and some Christmas music and hear Mr. P stirring, so I'd better hustle and start the day.

Merry Christmas , my ATRW friends....

After a night of thinking I was not in control, I find that this morning, I do have control.

Turkey..stuffed in oven..veggies in cold water...and soon I'll be making the cabbage salad.

Why I worry... I have no idea.

Sarah went overboard on us this year....really! Arriving this Thursday is a radiant, self-cleaning, freestanding range ..plus she gave us $$$.00 Home Depot gift cards to finish the basement...with instruction to her dad..no new tools....just construction material, LOL

Good Morning lysie. What an incredibly generous daughter you have!

It sounds like you're totally in control. I need to head back to the kitchen. Mom and Stepdad will be here around 11:00. I need to leave a few tasks for Mom to do. She needs to feel like I couldn't do it without her!

Have a Blessed and Merry Day!

Merry Christmas to all on ATRW!! Another Christmas Eve accomplished, the Scout Reindeer made his annual appearance, and my husband has helped me clean up the mess this morning. My legs are SO sore from running up and down the stairs; it would have been a lot worse but The Coopster noticed I was limping and started doing a lot of the errands for me (our rec room is in the basement and that's where I lay out the buffet and where we have a bar).

My wonderful husband, continuing to indulge my love of poitics and news, bought me XM Satellite Radio for my big gift! Hurray! Now I can listen to Tony Snow!

I just got a call from younger daughter. They forgot about making gravy, and have no clue. If that's all I have to worry about, it's going to be a great day.

At some point during the night, I guess I was warm, so I turned off the heaters. There is a glaze of ice over my water glass near the bed. I'm huddled in the artic sleeping bag with two confused, but purring, kittens until it gets warm enough for me to face the house.
