LOS ANGELES - Billy Crystal won't be singing his movie parodies at the Oscars in March.
Crystal tells Variety that he was asked last week to host, but he had to turn down the job.
Crystal's one-man show "700 Sundays" opens in Los Angeles next month, he's going to direct a movie and is writing another book.

Crystal s the second, after Chris Rock, to turn it away. Perhaps the inanity (IMO) of this annual self congratulatory fest by the Libs is losing it's allure? What self respecting professional wants to be the MC of a Gay Agenda 'Awards' piece featuring Bareback Mountain as the main attration.

Good. Crystal is awful.
Steve Martin was pretty funny.

But then, I liked Letterman, too. The clip where he offers his Jack Nicholson impression had me choking with laughter.

The Oscars should get Cindy Sheehan to host their anti-American gathering of clueless Hollywood maggots who claim to know it all and possess absolutely none of the facts

Excellent suggestion! Wish I'd thought of it. She would fit right in with the 'Form over substance', shout loud yet know nothing crowd that is H'Wood.

I agree. Letterman's hosting turn was GREAT. I think he hasn't been asked back because he was too irreverent to the Hollywood Elite.

I read that at the time--Hollywood didn't like being mocked. As someone said in some magazine recently, he was surprised (but shouldn't have been) to learn through his experience in Hollywood that stars have great senses of humor about everyone but themselves. A humorless lot--how else to explain their enjoying Crystal and Ellen?

Yup. They're stupid and they just HATE someone pointing that out on national television.

:-), Nobody is completely worthless, Even as low as a person like Cindy Sheehan can go, she can always serve as a bad example :-)

He did. But he wasn't funny. Letterman was funny.

"My money is on Ellen Degenerate." Actually, I hope they do have her - may as well have the GLAD agenda right out front, further negatively impacting the viewership (I hope). Frankly, I wouldn't watch under any circumstances but, IMO, anything that bring this self-congratulatory stupidity to it's demise is fine with me.

Is anybody going to watch the Oscars this year? Why?
A remake of King Kong? Wow.
Harry Potter's not getting any awards.
So far, it looks like a Sheepherder's special and maybe some minor awards to Munich - another movie on the list of "why bother to leave the house" flicks.
Did I miss a movie this year that would make it worth watching the Oscars?

At least it isn't Whoopi. But it's still going to have the lowest ratings ever.
