We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good evening!!
Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
TWU Local 100 agreed to go back to work in New York, ending the illegal transit strike there. Two million dollars worth of fines, pending appeal to a New York State Appellate Court, has been levied against the union local, and Gov. Pataki has said they will not be waived. No change in the negotiating position of either the union local or the City of New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority has occurred, and there exists the possibility of another walkout.
Saddam at his trial indicated the United States is "the number one liar in the world." The trial has been adjourned until January 24, 2006. In other words, so far, there have been four or five court days and weeks upon weeks of nothing.
And President Bush stated "it's been a good year for the American people."
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Caue, the Chairman.
Thank you Peach. Those volcanos are always doing something and every time they erupt, they spread a nice fine layer of good earth over everything. One year I was in Anchorage when a volcano blew, by noon, we couldn't see a thing because the "soot" was so thick. The next summer my aunt had dalias (sp) as big as dinner plates. It did spook their diary cattle though. Her strawberries were fantastic, and her cabbages were huge. Sometimes a volcano does good things.
Gotta go make coffee. bbl.
How fascinating what volcanic eruptions and the resulting soot does for the soil; I never knew that but certainly it makes sense.
Troop reduction in Iraq announced today: 7,000.
I have no idea what happens with the Patriot Act now; I hadn't realized the Senate went home as planned. I thought they were going to have to stay. Hmmm.
My cousin, who is like a sister to me, has a son who was scheduled to go. I'm waiting to hear from her as to whether or not he is among those 'on hold'.
He is about to retire and was anxious to make one last trip abroad before hanging it up and returning to Iowa with his family. I've emailed his mom, but haven't heard back, yet.
that is a heartfelt & sad story about your busdriver's brother. There is never a good time/situaiton to die is there? , but for some reason the Christmas season seems the hardest.
Do give him a big bear hug with those powerful arms!!!
I know you have a difficult task ahead of you, Dolly, and we'll be thinking of you.
I don't know which to hope for -- that he doesn't have to go or that he gets his wish for one last trip. I guess better to be safe but disappointed.
Hi, Toby. We just turned off the Christmas music in time to hear on FNC that Daschle says that Congress was not informed about the NSA program. Apparently he hasn't read about those within his own party who admit they were briefed. The left continues to amaze and amuse.
As for those lying left-wingers, I'd like to use a stun gun on everyone of them when (not if) he/she lies. Of course, I'd have to wear my holster and gun 24/7 because they lie ALL the time.
Good points, Toby. If I miss seeing you later on the thread, I want to wish you and your wonderful family and blessed Christmas and good health in the New Year.
I like cell phones because they're a measure of safety for me. If I'm in an accident, have a flat, or whatever I can easily summon help. Also, if I'm at the store and forget something I can call home and check it out. Yesterday, I picked the youngest up at her friend's house to take her to the stables. We were traveling on some unknown roads. The map printed out wasn't specific and I took a wrong turn. I called hubby and he pulled up the map on the internet and was able to redirect me back to where I needed to be. Many minutes were saved by that.
I have used our phone when I've been lost too -- just 2 months ago I got so lost in another state that I was nearly in tears. I just don't get the people who have them stuck to their ears the entire time they shop at the grocery store, etc.
I'm still mad at Dole for resigning to run for President. He was a lousy candidate and was a good leader/senator.
Merry Christmas to all - each and every one.
Toby - why are the housing prices going up so dramatically? Is it because so many who had fancy houses on the coast have/want to move inland? Trent Lott comes to mind - imagine he has plenty of money.
Two recently widowed guys from our senior mobile home community recently paid their own way to Missippi, Lacedale and Ocean Springs, and played Santa at the schools. K through 4th grade. They had collected money from us for toys, arranged through the First United Methodist Church of Lucedale. They were truly inspired by their reception, reported it as incredibly heartwarming.
The devastation is almost unbelievable.
This is not her fault. The salon owner insists that none of them turn down business, even walk-ins. I knew this, but didn't make the connection. Oh, well.
You hit the nail on the head with that observation. I couldn't have said it better, and I agree 100%
