I love it. My mom never made it growing up and the only time I got it was a church pot-lucks. After I got married, we made it alot and I still love it. What is funny is that at Thanksgiving my mom made the comment that "I made that all the time for you all when you were young". Mom, must have been in an alternative timeline because I never had it.

My mum made a good green bean casserole. She called it 'Spanish Green Beans'...modeled after her version of Spanish Rice. Saute onions and chopped bacon together, drain most of the fat off. Add canned green beans and canned tomatoes (or tomato sauce.) Pop into the over & bake 'til bubbly. Good stuff.

Prefer fresh green beans... NOT overcooked.
'Casseroles' are for the 'great-unwashed'.

Green bean casserole? Good stuff. Only time I get it is at other people's houses. That and dinner rolls. And macaroni salad. And mashed potatoes. And ham. And...
Geez, what do I eat?

Dump the green bean casserole and everything else. Give me a corn casserole all to myself and I'll be happy.
