14 pound Baby born to Oklahoma Couple
CBS Early Show

I heard the news reports and then on CBS this morning they had the couple on the Early Show. Looking at the parents, its easy to see where the baby got its weight.
The parents are obese and the baby is starting off that way. Why should we celebrate this and give them all this TV coverage? All three will be a drain to our health care system for years to come.

This is like the "first baby born this year" stories run by big-city papers and the kid is almost always illegitimate. Heartwarming.

Failed bit? Let's just say that I refrained from posting my comment on your second paragraph.

OUCH!! But that is not a good thing for the kid. Hopefully the kid will lose some of the weight. Also having large kids could mean diabetes for the mother.

The kid will be a normal healthy size.
Do you think he is even gonna have a chance at the dinner table with those two?

Crap, was my motive that transparent?

The parents are obese and the baby is starting off that way. Why should we celebrate this and give them all this TV coverage? All three will be a drain to our health care system for years to come.A) They didn't strike me as all that obese. B) It gets TV coverage because its' very unusual, and it beats stoning them to death in the town square. C) Got proof that either the parents or the child are unhealthy or will overly ~drain~ the health care system?

What TV were you watching?????? Maybe you saw the end of the clip where they get skinny, like at the end of old movies.

It's so sad; I see tubby little kids walking around and I wonder how the parents can just stand by and watch their baby eat himself to death. Don't they care? In the information age, 'ignorance' about eating healthy is not a valid excuse.

I didn't stare, but neither was there a good enough shot to really see the measurements of the mother. I saw a mom holding a baby.
You should stick to humor, Max... This is awfully mean-spirited.

Basically, you saw some fat people on TV this morning and thought you'd complain?
