We don't get concerned unless they forecast a foot or more, then the media usually trumpets some fool idea of death and dismemberment to all. Heck, it's only snow, not hurricanes or earthquakes, or uPods.

And yes, your winter is our March. Which is why we invented basketball and hockey........

We're supposed to get 'Upwards of a foot of snow' in NY coming Saturday into Sunday.

They've already called off all the schools early. The problem here is not so much the amount of snow, but the fact that it is usually very wet and freezes rapidly, plus we have a lot of winding, hilly roads, which is bad, especially for the school bus routes.

We had a lot of bad snow in Colorado and it rarely kept me in if I needed to go somewhere. I'm not afraid of driving in the snow, although I don't like it, but the car I have now is a nice car and it's rear wheel drive, which I hate, and has enough trouble in rain. I absolutely refuse to take it out with the slightest bit of snow. That, and the fact that the people around here who can barely drive on dry roads DO scare me to death. Hardly a day goes by without at least one rather ugly accident, sometimes more. That's a lot for a town this size. And today is going to be extra bad with all the traffic for the funeral and people coming in from out of town.
