you want me to step up to the board and crack this one?

Sure--- I can do that.

Notice that the slope of the red and the slope of the green are not the same. One has a rise over run of 3/8, the other has a rise over run of 2/5. That illusion of a line going up the diagonal is what is kitty-wompus. On the top one it dips down, and on the bottom it pooches up. The difference is the one square missing.

I love that pic of your rig in the Baja. But, you know me, and I would need a campfire to cook meals and a clothesline to hang clothes from swimming in that wonderful water.

If the red had a base of 5 it would be 2/5, and a straight edge along a print out will confirm that the diagonals are perfectly straight on both triangles.

If you look at the red fifth column from the left on both diagrams the drop is exactly the same.

The straight line can not have 2 different slopes (rise over run). There are 2 different slopes: 2/5 and 3/8. Rise (Right side) over Run (Bottom side) of the red and green triangles.

"Samuel Alito sworn in as the 110th Supreme Court justice

By JESSE J. HOLLAND, The Associated Press

WASHINGTON - Samuel Anthony Alito Jr. was sworn in as the nation's 110th Supreme Court justice on Tuesday after being confirmed by the Senate in one of the most partisan victories in modern history.

Alito was sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts in a private ceremony at the Supreme Court building across from the Capitol at about 12:40 p.m. EST, court officials said.

Alito and his wife, Martha-Ann Bomgardner, along with other members of the court and their spouses, attended the ceremony in the justices' conference room. The 55-year-old New Jersey jurist took both the constitutional and judicial oaths so he can immediately participate in court decisions.

Alito will be ceremonially sworn in a second time at a White House East Room appearance on Wednesday."

Yippeeee ! bout time.

"FNC Reporter Megan Kendall: "Justice Stevens wants to retire under a Republican President."

Posted on 01/31/2006 2:05:42 PM CST by new yorker 77

After the confirmation of Samuel Alito, I heard Fox New Channel's Reporter Megan Kendall when asked who might be next to retire from the bench said, "Justice Stevens has stated in the past that he was confirmed under a Republican President wants to retire under a Republican President."

Yesterday, 30 January, was Vice President Cheney's birthday. I just ran across some photos when he was much younger posted on another thread. I've not seen these before and thought you might enjoy them.
