My oldest, Sam, is suspected of having lymphoma, and I will be taking him to the KState Vet Hospital next week for additional testing. He is thirteen, and has been the longest relationship of my life, outside of my parents.
Keep him in your thoughts, and I will keep you posted.
The last kitty I lost, three years ago, was to bone cancer. The prognosis for Sam is better, but I am really scared. Watching them suffer through treatment is so terrible.
I will. I know the fear and the loss.
HUGS and good luck with treatment for Sam.
I'm going to think all good thoughts about your special boy, Sam. Having just gone through a cancer scare with my favorite cat, Elliott, I can certainly empathize with you.
The hardest part for me was "not borrowing trouble." Meaning, staying away from the idea that it was going to be bad news. In point of fact, I knew no such thing. Other fact being, El's problem turned out to be benign. I hope for the same outcome in Sam's case.
Cats are often extremely sensitive to our emotions. I've read that and heard it from vets. Finally decided that I didn't want Elliott to feel fear from me, so I decided to get a grip. I wanted him to feel especially loved and secure, so that's what I worked on.
Don't know that any of that will be meaningful to you. Just know I'll be thinking of you. Take care.
I lost my oldest cat Teddy to Squamous Cell Carcinoma behind his left eye last year so I'll keep a special place in my prayers for Sam.
a special prayer going up for Sam.
Prayers going up for Sam. He's a beautiful boy.
I'll say a prayer for him. He sure is cute :)
Believe me, they work. Freepers saved my kitty a few months ago.
SHe is doing fine and playing in the CHristmas sacks right now.
Merry CHristmas and Happy New Year!
