Sometimes we forget that Hawaii's Kilauea is in constant eruption. And the Web site may go for weeks without a new picture. But there have been some recent events, including a large bench collapse. Below are three recent picture highlights; go to the linked source for explanations.
18-20 November 2005 -- lava stream after tube breakout
30 November 2005 -- lava falls after bench collapse
2 December 2005 -- sea cliff lava vent
TOPICS: Arts/Photography; Education; Outdoors; Science; Travel
KEYWORDS: bench; collapse; eruption; kilauea; lava; pahoehoe; shots; volcano
The middle picture is amazing.

Hawaii certainly doesn't need a Highway Dept.Looks like Mother Nature takes care of the paving duties.

Ooooh lava!
I'm going to reveal my age here, but when I was a little kid I used to *love* watching 3-2-1-Contact on PBS. They ran lots of the Kilauea footage shot by the Krafts. I loved watching the rivers and waterfalls of red-orange. It was so enchanting - it seemed almost alive. An indellible images from my yout.
Thanks for the pics!

We helicoptered over it a few years ago. Awesome! Very hypnotic watching the orange flows.
