I've been in the indie film biz for five years. Rule of thumb is that the film must do 250% of production and P&A in BO in order to break even. That translates to $53 million in this case. This film will not come close to one third of that. Foreign and rentals will not ride to the rescue.
Have any numbers on Nobody's Fool and Light Sleeper?
My attitude is: gay cowboys? Fine, but not for me. I don't think anyone's updated the western for modern times since Hud (Horseman Pass by). But maybe they'll start making small movies again that are about actual people and not CGI.
