Welcome to the OFFICIAL Friday/Saturday Night Singles' Thread
"We're Gonna Have a Good Time Tonight...Let's Celebrate...It's All Right!"
In store for tonight (as proposed by apackof2):
To get our thread started, we're going to answer these questions:
1) "When and why did you join Free Republic?"
2) "What was going on at the time?" (Top movies, favorite song(s), price of gas, etc.)
3) "What happened on that day in history?"
Of possible further interest:

Free Republic is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots
conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse,
to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.
And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!

Which...I guess is less bizarre than what he's really meaning.
Poor fictional girl...

"Saturday night, and I ain't got nobody..." Same here. But that's perfectly fine with me.
To: RosieCotton
I would have liked to have seen that...I'm just being honest.

Just okay? I'm a little under the weather this evening. Of course, I didn't go to bed at all Thursday night, and I had a long evening yesterday.
I stayed in the city and had a good time, though -- except for the sappy poetry at the coffeeshop.

How did you not go to bed on Thursday??
For me, I stayed up much of the night on Wednesday since my roommate's airport shuttle picked her up at three and I kept her company until almost time, and then last night and the night before, I had the party dude to deal with.
I'm getting too old for this kinda life! ;-)
To: scott7278
That's good. I'm kind of tired at the moment, but it's too early to go to bed.

Finals are coming up and I was putting the finishing touches on my assignments. One of my professors said his final exam is optional -- if we're satisfied with our grade, he'll make the midterm worth double the points. I have a 100% in the class, and so "gee, let me think about that." LOL!
To get your mind off of "Another Saturday Night," listen to this. I love this song...I could listen to it all day long:

Oh, that's really bad when you're soooo tired, but you have to wait for the clock to turn a certain time before going to bed.

Whoa bud, I used to live in the country. I think you must live off the grid?

I have a really bizarre sense of humor -- I have to really watch it because I laugh at really bad moments.
I got bored in class yesterday, and I put in this picture into my notes:
I started laughing, and I thought I was going to have to leave the room.

I'd rather live life to the fullest on my own terms, though!
That doesn't include listening to profanity-laden rap at four in the morning.
To: RosieCotton
Of course, I had stayed up all night so I was really slaphappy.

Very nice! Gotta love standards like that. I really love a LOT of the music of that time and style, but my collection is seriously lacking in it on account of my Dad has TONS, and before I moved out here, I'd borrow them all the time.
I'd probably catch a lot of flack for mentioning it in some circles but I really like, say, Perry Como and such like.
Which makes me wish I had "Because" to listen to. I like the lyrics...
Because you come to me,
with naught save love,
and hold my hand and lift mine eyes above,
a wider world of hope and joy I see,
because you come to me.
Because you speak to me in accent sweet,
I find the roses waking 'round my feet,
and I am led through tears and joy to thee,
because you speak to me!
Because God made thee mine,
Ill cherish thee,
through light and darkness through all time to be,
and pray His love may make our love divine,
because God made thee mine!
OK, so they're schmaltzy and over the top and stuff. I still like it. Guess you like about anything you grow up with!
