Yes, I saw how awesome that defense was against...............the AGGIES!! ;)
I just think USC is going to run into a buzz saw.
I remember before the Rose Bowl against Michigan two years ago, we were parked next to a bunch of obnoxious Michigan fans, they were young, bragging about how great the Big Ten was and the Pac Ten was weak. One guy started to get into my wife's face (she can hold her own against the best of em!). She finally shut him up by saying:
Look Bo Schembechler couldn't beat us and neither can you guys. Let's see whose braggin after the game.
After the game they were gone.
Texas is a good team, no doubt. Your starters may match ours in some (not all positions) But I think USC has the depth that is going to prove itself in the end. PLus the USC O line is awesome, one of the best ever.
you must be an aggie...only an aggie would say something like that...
probably....
I'm your worst dream!! USC will destroy TU in the Rose Bowl, and TAMU will bury The short horns next Fall!!!
"USC O line is awesome, one of the best ever"
The good news is that they will be back next year.
The Aggie quarterback is a stud. He should have been playing all season. Everyone in college station knows that. I am pretty sure Texas won that game didn't they? I am pretty sure TX has scored more than any other team this year. I am pretty sure their defense is ranked 4th in the country still. Now I know that Fresno State is a great team and that they would take the New England Patriots to the wire. So what were you saying about defense?
Yep NU was the defending champion and were mowing through anybody who even looked in there direction and Florida came in a 7 point favorite.
USC should be the odds on favorite, essentially playing a home game. Remove homefield advantage out of the equation I would think it would be more of a toss-up.
I thought you would at least root for the Big 12, but I guess when you whole existence is centered around being the annoying younger brother to the University of the great State of Texas you get a little bitter. It's the Ashley Simpson syndrome and that's what you don't get. We root for you guys when you are playing out of conference but you can't do the same because your whole existence centers around convincing everyone that you are just as good as UT. It's in your fight song...it's in your bonfire...it's in your tradition. While other schools boast about how good they are and talk themselves up, you Aggies resign yourself to talking about how bad another school is. You are fixated on it like a crazy ex girl friend that never got closure. Well take it from me...it's not me it's you.
The Big 12 better hope Texas at the very least puts on a better performance than Oklahoma did last year.
They should, IMO they have an all around better defense for one. The offense is more unpredictable with a dual capability quarterback and the no-name supporting cast they have. There oensive line is pretty good and they do have a good set of receivers and running backs, they are just overlooked.
USC fans and there team have been spoiled and dont look at the entire picture of there team. Offensively the USC Trojans can be beat by continous pressure on the QB and manning on the runners. Bush is good but he cant carry the team on his shoulders every time, and whether USC fans wish to admit it or not Texas defense is the best they willace this year, bar none. Plus USC defense is suspect, they have great athletes on it but it seems they arent very disciplines and have a tackling problem.
I still give the edge to USC their offense is simply too good, and with a home game to boot.
Sorry my f key doesnt work sometimes.
You mean VY would not be as motivated otherwise?
No..I just think that Bush and VY will have something to prove. it is going to be a shoot out. I am not saying that Bush doesn't deserve the Heisman because he does. He is incredible. He reminds me of Barry Sanders. This will be the first game that he plays with the trophy on his shelf so he will have added pressure to have a good game. As if the National Championship *via BCS* isn't enough pressure. Vince will want to prove that he is just as deserving. No one likes to be runner up. It should be a great game.
Kind of scary for the opposition!
He was making his first college start, as I recall and is a Freshman?
I am pretty sure Texas won that game didn't they?
Come on, admit it, you guys were sweatin bullets in the third quarter.
Now I know that Fresno State is a great team
Well, much like the Aggies did, Fresno State played one hell of a game, it was after all their "Bowl Game" (as it was for A&M)
So what were you saying about defense?
You will need 40 points to win.............. you won't get them.
If Vince is "out to prove" something about himself, that's a selfish attitude and could hurt his team. Is he not a team player? I will give him the benefit of the doubt, but if his attitude is that he is going to prove something about HIMSELF and not his team, it will not be helpful. He would likely try too hard and make poor decisions under such circumstances.
This will be the first game that he plays with the trophy on his shelf so he will have added pressure to have a good game
If he were playing for a team that wasn't used to big stakes you might be on to something; however, Bush doesn't carry this team. He won't feel any added pressure. How did Leinart handle the added "pressure" last year agaisnt OU? Not too bad I would say, and that was against the team with the previous winner and a runner-up. If anything, Oklahoma had much more to prove last year than does Texas this year. Go back before that - How did Carson Palmer handle the Heisman pressure against Iowa in the Orange Bowl? Again, not too bad.
If Young was robbed of the trophy, that would be one thing, but Bush won in a landslide (I like the sounds of that - Bush in a landslide!). With the national championship at stake, I don't think there be much concern about who won the Heisman when the game kicks off.
The Big 12 needs at least a solid performance otherwise they're going to lose out in the near future when it comes to competing with other conferences for the prime BCS slots.
I think we'll get forty...if you look at my earlier post, VY is going to pass for 3 and rush for 2. That makes 35 points. The other one will have to come from our defense or running back.
Fresno State....that game was incredible...best game of the season I think. Bush went off. Fresno State did play the perfect game. That could have been a spoiler for sure. Believe me, the Longhorns know all about spoiler teams.
As far as the Aggie game...it was too close...but in the Aggies defense...take a look at their home record. They don't get beat there very often. Their backup quarterback showed a ton of poise by standing up and leading that team as a freshman..the Aggies will be good again pretty quick with that guy at the helm.
I said that Bush deserves the Heisman...he is incredible and won it hands down. I am just saying that VY would love to put up some drastic numbers. Vince doesn't throw the ball to himself, so of course he isn't thinking he is going to do it all on his own. I think the real story will be whether our corners can keep Bush from going crazy in our backfield. He is going to get loose once or twice. How will our D react? Can they keep our offense on the field? And Vince...for the love of God...take care of the football...he makes me nervous sometimes when he goes for that extra yard instead of having two hands on the football like every coach has told him since 6th grade.
I think your under estimating our defense, and their capabilities. They will be focused on VY, that is for sure. Also consider this:
UT 51
Rice 10
UCLA 63
Rice 21
USC 66
UCLA 19
