The only thing I can think is that it took Randall off guard being live. Maybe he was in shock from winning. It just seemed out of character.

I think the question many are now wondering is whether his reaction on live TV was "out of character" or whether that was in fact the only unscripted Randal we've seen. He certainly seemed to be caught off guard, so it would lead one to believe that what we saw was the "true Randal", and the rest of the interview was what he offered for public consumption.
