Anyone live in the Research Triangle (No. Carolina) area?

Posted on 12/15/2005 6:21:54 AM PST by mom3boys

Is the Research Triangle area a good place to live?

What is the job/housing situation there? Is it a good place to raise a family?

It is a great place. Lots of jobs, growing economy reasonable home prices (in most areas), low crime. Traffic is becoming a problem, but that is a problem with gowth. Let me know if you want more information.

My area, Charlotte Metro and 40 mile surrounding suburbs, is growing faster than the infrastructure can handle.
One part of town will have Starbucks and soccermoms in SUVs and the other part will have raised 4x4s and guys with fishhooks in their hats. The towns get smaller as you move away from Charlotte until there is nothing but fields and cattle.
I think you are talking about the Raleigh\Durham area.
There are alot of unemployed people but I, myself, have never gone two weeks without a job around here. The textile industry has all but faded out giving way to more administrative office type jobs, though manufacturing is still the main employer.
Don't be surprised if someone offers you the shirt off their back and then someone else tries to steal it.

And BTW,
Three hours drive east for swimming at the beach.
Three hours drive west for skying in the mountains.
