In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
chatoyant \shuh-TOY-unt\ adjective
: having a changeable luster or color with an undulating narrow band of white light
Example sentence:
The chest was opened to reveal a veritable treasure of glittering gold jewelry and chatoyant gems.
Etymology: The complex structure of a cat's eye not only enables it to see at night but also gives it the appearance of glowing in the dark. Not surprisingly, jewels that sport a healthy luster are often compared with the feline ocular organ, so much that the term "cat's-eye" is used to refer to those gems (such as chalcedony) that give off iridescence from within. If you've brushed up on your French lately, you might notice that the French word for "cat" ("chat") provides the first four letters of "chatoyant," a word used by jewelers to describe such lustrous gems. "Chatoyant" derives from the present participle of "chatoyer," a French verb that literally means "to shine like a cat's eyes."
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

When I read that, I had a sudden mental picture of a burglar who has stolen stuff from the same house several times using that as a defense...
i KNEW It!
One of the posters on the thread commented to me "I didn't read in the article where she 'allowed' him to have contact with her daughter." Well as far as I'm concerned the fact that he raped her daughter is pretty much an indication that she allowed him to have access to the girl.
amateurs are the only ones that do housecalls any more!
It's worth a shot. Johnny Cochran would be proud of me.
Not to mention that amateurs are the ones who do it out of passion for the calling rather than for monetary reasons.
you don't find a lot of amateur podiatrists....
Not to mention the free breast examination (far preferable to a mammogram) at no extra charge.
It's not worth it to do it for the money. Third party reimbursement is a real b#$h....
And you absolutely don't want to even think about an amateur proctologist.
i was going to say urologist but then i figured there are probably fruits out there doing it pro bono.
your humanitarianism has me ready to weep....
Eeewwwww. There the same ones who are amateur proctologists.
What can I say? It is the season for generous giving.
Afternoon Jack!
Now that I've finally finished the invoices, I get back here and find that we have guys practicing virtual medicine without a license...
