In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
chatoyant \shuh-TOY-unt\ adjective
: having a changeable luster or color with an undulating narrow band of white light
Example sentence:
The chest was opened to reveal a veritable treasure of glittering gold jewelry and chatoyant gems.
Etymology: The complex structure of a cat's eye not only enables it to see at night but also gives it the appearance of glowing in the dark. Not surprisingly, jewels that sport a healthy luster are often compared with the feline ocular organ, so much that the term "cat's-eye" is used to refer to those gems (such as chalcedony) that give off iridescence from within. If you've brushed up on your French lately, you might notice that the French word for "cat" ("chat") provides the first four letters of "chatoyant," a word used by jewelers to describe such lustrous gems. "Chatoyant" derives from the present participle of "chatoyer," a French verb that literally means "to shine like a cat's eyes."
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
I say it's a good thing the kiddies see this tasteless Santa display so that they will know to stay far away from that family.
Thanks but I think I'll sit that one out - it has all the signs of being a banning in the making.
They said the same thing about Burt Ward, who played Dick Grayson aka "Robin" on the campy Batman TV series.
"Brandon is extremely well-endowed and they don't want it up on the big screen.
So point it down. Problem solved.
Perhaps he is in the wrong entertainment field?
Thank you!
Or perhaps this publicist is trying to generate controversy and interest into what appears to be a weak movie with a lame superman.
Well there is no shortage of pathetic women who would flock to see him........
I like that!
Yeah well if this guy has such an impressive package that it is giving producers fits, then he must have just gotten out of a rather chilly swimming pool when this picture was taken:
he's got NOTHING on the veep : )
I'm more than a little curious as to why you are intently studying his package Vastie..........
He doesn't look all that well um, endowed to me-either that guy is a former porno star trying to go legit or the studio is trying to entice women to see a lame movie. Either way, he is way too young, and too girly-man looking-I like the more experienced, rugged and masculine types, myself. I dreamed last night of a former flame who was a rugged man-haven't thought of the man in a long time, so I've no idea what that was about.
Hear, hear-you're SO right about that!
wow and you are our resident dream interpreter too. the guy doesn't do squat for me either, i also prefer rugged to girly man.
Dreaming of an old flame means you need to go shopping.....
Thank you!
I don't much like what my books say about the subconcious motivation for dreaming about a former lover-but I don't really like to shop, either...
