We came across this full-page ad in the New York Times (click on Download PDF flier, at bottom of page). The ad was taken out by an anti-Bush group styling itself as The World Cant Wait coalition and calls for the ouster of the Bush Regime clearly trying to yoke the administration to dictatorial regimes.
What are their plans? To stage a coup detat? No, they advocate noise terrorism. That is right. When George Bush presents the State of the Union Address in January, they are telling people to rise up and make noise by banging pots, honking horns, blasting stereos (lets call it noise pollution- undoubtedly, the only type of pollution favored by these people.)
Signers include the convicted murderer Mumia Abu-Jamal (who is characterized as a political prisoner and journalist, but who actually engaged in a bank robbery that led to the killing of a policeman); Ron Kovic and Jane Fonda (the Vietnam war has never ended for some), a gaggle of Muslim groups, Cindy Sheehan, Martin Sheen, Lyne Stewart (a lawyer charged with aiding Muslim terror groups), Ed Begley Ed Asner, and Gabriel Byrne (I guess when you have no acting career left, you can become a protester), fired professor and rapper wannabe Cornel West, and other assorted, befuddled and besotted worthies. Whoever dreamt up this tactic mst have overdosed on the movie Network which also featured a nosiy protest by those who oculd not take it anymore. There must be a name for these absurd tactics which will just drive people away from the views held by their perpetrators.Whatever, it is we should bless these fools.

So... they demand to know "the plan" yet plan themselves to drown out the answer.
Typical.
when you can't win elections, i guess you have to use alternative (no pun intended) means.
Still believing that America is listening to them!
I never saw any press coverage after that, so I guess it didn't go off as well as they thought it would.
When will these fools realize that protests and rallies don't work? They keep mentioning this "great revolution" that's going to take place, yet never does.
It must be pretty lonely being in the minority.
A sorry group of losers. I offer the following clarifications:
"Mumia Abu-Jamal (who is characterized as a political prisoner and journalist, but who actually engaged in a bank robbery that led to the killing of a policeman)"
Clarification: He personally carried out the murder
"Lyne Stewart (a lawyer charged with aiding Muslim terror groups)"
Clarification: She's been convicted.
Maybe socialism will be undone by this new breed of socialists? Most are now too lazy to actually do anything more than yell at the moon. The Old Guard, that did try to infiltrate the US Government (many of which who were chased out by McCarthy), are no longer in vogue.
Will they take the non-conformists oath?
I promise to be different!
I promise to be unique!
I promise not to repeat things other people say!
I promise not to depreciate non-taxable items brought forth from the previous tax year!
Well, look at it this way. Nobody reads the NYT anymore anyway except real journalists and MSM journalists.
BTW, I have absolutely no idea of who Gabriel Byrne is.
He is actually a fairly decent actor - unlike Sheen who I find mediocre. He was in the Usual Suspects, and Little Women as the older love interest of one of the girls.
Don't forget "Miller's Crossing" which is an excellent if overlooked Coen Brothers film. He is going to have to do a lot more than be on the opposite side of the political fence than me for me to give up that film or "The Usual Suspects".
I never saw that and I didn't know it was Coen brothers.
CLASSIC Steve Martin. Good show.
