It turns out that Honda has published a bit more technical presentation about ASIMO in this pdf (it's quite large, about 7 megabytes.)

The Washington Post ran an article on ASIMO with this interesting note that I hadn't seen mentioned before: "The company plans to start using Asimo's new receptionist functions at Honda offices early next year. The new robot is also available for lease for 20 million yen ($170,000) a year."
