The Hobbit Hole XXVI - Home is behind, the world ahead
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 12/11/2005 8:37:40 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Home is behind, the world ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

That'd be my brother Jim, too. ;-)

Time sure is flyin'! I'm just realizing it's less than ten days until Christmas. Not that it's gonna be THAT much different from a normal day for me, but...

I'd bet it could still be ordered through Amazon - they carry a lot of import albums.

In other news, I think my sourdough starter is really and truly bubbling on its own now. Smells a little sour, too. I'm gonna give it another day or so and then maybe feed it a bit. With luck, I can do some minor cooking with it by early in the week!

Oh Baby baby! Nothing like good sourdough! And with your own homegrown yeast at that!

Oh, and I bought a container for it today: the grocery had Pyrex measuring cups on sale. The one I got holds over two cups, which should be enough for just storing some, and it has a lid that can be put on so that there's a vent hole open. Should be perfect! Plus I can use the measuring lines to figure how much stuff to add to it each time I use it.

I think I mentioned something about that "Celtic Woman" DVD that I got? I think it's just amazing. Hypnotic even.

One of them does a version of "May it be" that just destroys me.

Well, I can't find it on Amazon. Shoot.

Apparently they're part of a Christian "commune" maybe? Figures! LOL!
