The Hobbit Hole XXVI - Home is behind, the world ahead
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 12/11/2005 8:37:40 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Home is behind, the world ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

OUCH!

Somehow I managed to slice my big toe on the corner of my closet door. It's one of those mirrored sliding kinds.

:-(

We have a chance of snow as well...but it tends to hop over us and hit slightly more to the east.

Since I don't hafta go anywhere this weekend...snow could be rather nice. We shall see...

Neosporin and bandage have been applied. It stings bad.

Hmmm..maybe I'll use it as an excuse to wear sneakers tomorrow....

Temps are nice here, at least.

Heh, a bit east usually means KS and OT. I don't mind snow, I truly detest the freezing rain that usually precedes it.

Heh...I was thinking more Windsor and Greeley...but yeah, I suppose a lot of our weather heads your way next, doesn't it?

Well, I'd better grit my teeth and get that shower in. I don't imagine it'll feel very nice on my toe. :-P

Nighty night everyone!

Tomorrow is finally Friday!

Well, we get it from you, 2J country occasionally from Talon. Depends on which barb wire fence is up.

Heh...they had the freezing stuff back home today. Hope it holds off long enough for me to get the car serviced on Saturday.

I'm busy making sausage balls to take to werk tomorrow. We're supposed to have an all day buffet going on. Wonder if it'll be as good as the Dept of Agriculture's all day buffets (those people could do buffets!)

He could have twists. They're cute, and low-maintenance ... sorta like spikes.

Your sausage balls are wonderful!! OB has a luncheon pot-luck tomorrow, and I made a carrot cake for him to take. There is so much sweet stuff that the guys (and girls) seem to appreciate the carrot cake. Does it make it more healthy that I use designer eggs? LSA

'Twas the week before Christmas,
And all through the house,
Not a creature was ambulatory,
Except for the mouse.

It's back.

Need suggestions for humane trapping/de-mousing.

~In other news~

Wife is still trying to decide about surgery. Can't get to the doctor she wants, so we'll see.

Tonight we gave ourselves permission ~not~ to host Christmas dinner. Our list was 20ish. Everyone on it will understand.

We used D-Con. Probably not a good idea when you have pets in the house though, I guess.

"Designer" eggs are the ~new~ term for eggs from chickens that are fed special formulas, like Eggland's Eggs, or Cage-Free Eggs. Hopefully, like 2J and mrsnad get from their chickens, but from a grocery store. LSA
