The Hobbit Hole XXVI - Home is behind, the world ahead
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 12/11/2005 8:37:40 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Home is behind, the world ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Nope, we didn't have time. It's on the list for next time though, just in case we ever travel again.

I'm sure we'll manage. Anyway there's not that much time so there shouldn't be that much awkwardness.

We can always put a brother in the back seat and go somewhere. They are good at staying quiet when threatened.

The F-16s are flying over and over...when I went to the jedis from RAs, I could actually see the jets glinting in the moonlight.

Vey cool.

Love that roar.

"Don't you all think Anne has the most gorgeous eyes?" And then took off, leaving all of us sitting there wondering what to say...

LOL! Wicked!

She still said "yes" when he asked her to marry him a coupla days later...so I guess she wasn't too mortified.

Never thought he'd be the first sibling to get hitched! ;-)

Yeah!

I love to look up.

They're flying low, though...you can clearly see them even in the dark.

We were just hashing out our history... I *think* Rose and I had been living together over 4 years before she met my parents.

The first time my parents met Steve, he hadn't shaved. He had on a short-sleeve dress shirt (with shirt-tails hanging out), a pair of gray athletic shorts, a pair of tube socks with stripes at the top (one blue, one red) and a pair of sneakers with his toe sticking out of one and the number 26 written hugh on the other.

I'm starting sourdough starter...hope it works here! The batch I had going at home worked really well - I usually used it at least once a week for flapjacks.

Guess in a few days I'll know if this is gonna work!
