Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Very good :~D We caught it a couple nights ago...
My cable TV station just locked up... it's in a freeze frame and has been for a few minutes. This has never happened before :~O

I tried having a nap. It sort of worked but it was very non restful because our upstairs neighbor was playing his "music" and so these threads of thumping sounds kept intruding.
Hopefully it will be enough because I don't think I'm getting any more rest tonight.

it's in a freeze frame and has been for a few minutes.Happens to us a lot on certain channels. Do you have digital cable? That's what does it in our case, I think.

Well, the whole "shuttle picking me up at 3 am" thing rather rules out actual sleep, per se. I don't sleep well when I have to be up at a time like that.

We don't have any plans. Plans would be too high-stress or something. The plan is he meets the family and vice versa.
Then two weeks later it's the same deal, only in Texas. And with fewer siblings.

I have come to the realization that dogs are made of love, pretty much ... otherwise, how do you explain the Grinch's dog Max?
To: Rose in RoseBear
Good evening, Rose! Today was your interview, no? How did it go?

Oh - well, I might disagree... plans to go do and see some local touristy thing or have a particular dinner someplace or something is less stressful than sitting around staring at each other not sure what happens next sometimes.

It's good, and fun for the other person to see the sights and places you grew up in!
And although I'm aware Jen and Talon have issues about going somewhere alone... I know when I met ecurbh's folks down in AZ, it was really stressful for me, and I appreciated seeing his family in couple hour increments, then he'd offer to go show me something to get away a bit... "Hey - let's go for a drive up to such and such, I want you to see it..." "Great!" (He could have been taking me to see a hole in the ground for all I cared!)

That's about how my brother did it, too, when bringing Anne to meet us.
On the other hand, he did things like, for example, the time we were all sitting around the table, and he was gonna run upstairs to take a shower before they headed off somewhere for a bit. Right before leaving the room, he said "Don't you all think Anne has the most gorgeous eyes?"
And then took off, leaving all of us sitting there wondering what to say...
