Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Well, I'm up for one!
But we'll just have to see how ~other~ things plan out first.

Oh, I see. Never mind then.

She described herself in her profile as a conservative, looking for same, which along with the self-ID "Christian/Protestant", caused me to go for it when I've been so disgusted with the whole business that I was going to blow it off.
So I figured I would have n trouble mentioning I was simultaneously "freeping".
Apparently she didn't know what that was, asked me about it...I responded honestly, thinking she might have thought it something else (perhaps popcorn-worthy).
She said that was it, no more contact.
Maybe she got bad info about what FR is all about. Maybe she thinks "conservative" is somewhat more moderate than (pick your fave RINO), who is a Fascist Thug.
Whatever, man. I'm a 41-year-old bachelor, and if God wills, in just shy of 7 months I'll be a 42-year-old bachelor, and no end in sight short of Eternity.

Gotcha.
I'd have a word or two to say to you on that, but...now's not the time.

Can you really not contact her again? ...To find out why she's THAT opposed to it? That sounds like an odd reaction... Maybe when she looked she saw something odd (It can happen, I've clicked on a few threads that looked like they were from another culture entirely)

I'll respect her wishes. I've deleted her contact information. If she wants to find me she can look for the guy who showed up as "best overall fit" in Yahoo Personals.

I just wondered if she was really that final is all.
Sorry - seems odd.

No problem.
It's a new year, XGI. Full of promise.
I'll be 33 in a few hours. You know, there's some fellas on FR who thinks that's ~too old~.
But I don't let that stop me from hoping.
hehehehe...

Holy smokes... Elizabeth Elliott... what a remarkable story that she has. I remember them.
I'm racking my brain, thinking that I'm pretty sure I went to see her speak... maybe she came to Pullman like in 83 or 84 or something like that. I'm not getting recall. Them were my heavy-duty bible-thumpin' Jesus freak days. I even went to KC'83 with campus crusade along with 15,000 of my closest friends. :-) That thing was just nuts.
