The Hobbit Hole XXVI - Home is behind, the world ahead
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 12/11/2005 8:37:40 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Home is behind, the world ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

*I'm* not the one that "brought it up", as you put it. ;-)

It was a mutual agreement after way too much pondering. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Seems like an even better one in retrospect.

...Those things do often seem over-pondered in retrospect, but the pondering is a lot of fun :~D

Pondering for over six months may have been a bit excessive.

Wicked?? Oh, not talkin about... er, never mind. JenB: "I would like it if you would kiss me..." Even Talon can take some hints.

Hmm? Pondering the calendar? I don't yet have any reason for doing that...

Hhhmmmm.... Trying to remember how long ecurbh'n me pondered... I think it was less :~D But from the time I picked him ~up~ at the airport... I think it was only about an hour :~D

It was all good, seein' as how we were both so nervous there was a fifty fifty chance we'd both run screaming at the airport :~D

Well, this was the third live meeting so we weren't going to run screaming from each other. Thought there was a slim chance the family might run him off... also, the little brothers put a damper on things most of this trip. ;-)

Thought there was a slim chance the family might run him off...

Maybe if you had hired some Democratic senators to impersonate family for the visit... To quote: "[They] were not as weird as I expected".

I have no idea what you are talking about. Damn, there is no possible way I can get the element of suprise here unless I were to propose on the thread...

That's because they were afraid of scaring you off. I told them you like weird but they weren't completely sure.
