The Hobbit Hole XXVI - Home is behind, the world ahead
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 12/11/2005 8:37:40 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Home is behind, the world ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

So apparently I'm coming home Sunday, not Saturday. Read my itinerary wrong before. Probably Sunday by 6 or so.

~sigh~

Jr. stayed after school today for a meeting about spring soccer. Glad he's branching out from football. But I told him he'd have to get a ride. There's no way I could get him.

He just called and said "I don't have a ride."

I told him "at least it's not raining."

Well of course she does!

She's a Hobbit, not some blockheaded Zotted-Troll from DU!

I'm taking the shuttle bus. That adds time plus depending on my luggage getting off the plane on time, me catching the shuttle... I could be home by 5 but 6 is more likely. In my opinion.

Pretty good day. I'm tired - got up waaay too early. And went shopping, which is pretty exhausting even when it only takes half an hour.

One of the minor characters in my NaNo novel was a rodent freak --- had an apartment full of hamsters and guineas and mice.

She lived across the hall from the veterinarian ... would come and have him dose her pets, including a teddy bear hamster with mange.

She was also a stewardess on a major airline's New York to Miami run.

I'm old, Talon. I know I don't look it, but I'm beginning to feel it in my heart.

*grin*

Yes, yes.

She'd come with me if I asked her.
But that would be silly, since she lives there already. :P
