Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Does that change your ideas of moving elsewhere?
You could do it, I bet! No problem - you're in a field that is in demand everywhere, and you're darn good at your job. The world is your oyster. ;-)

I got the daily bberry report this morning like I always do... and it struck me:
There's a few users here that get well over two thousand messages a day on their crackberries. This is ~after~ spam filters have already taken out the bulk of spam.
Fer tha luva... How does somebody even ~function~ with that sort of volume of frap? I don't get it. You'd think that the volume alone would make it impossible to use.
I'm more amazed than anything else. That's about one message every thirty or forty seconds. At that rate it would be all but impossible to even ~notice~ each one let alone read or reply to them. Any message you reply to means that you let four or five slip by. Given that they inevitably flow in lulls and floods, there must be times when they're coming in faster than you could even scroll down through them.
It's pure chaos. If only there were some way to capture this energy...

I haven't had any yet. Somethin' wrong there...
To: RosieCotton
My original plans being scratched, it's become more difficult to think of a way to move elsewhere.
I'd love to do it, but I just can't wrap my mind around how I'd be able to go somewhere, find a job, get child care/school set up, etc - without having some sort of support system for the initial weeks.
I don't have enough to allow me to grab an apartment and who would watch the girls while I interview??
~sigh~
Where God shuts a door, He opens a window. Let's see what happens.

I've gone from asking "Why?" to asking "What next?" A philosophy I should embrace, it appears....

All I'm sayin' is that in ~my~ case, I've gone from asking "Why?" to asking "What next?" I'm not sure I'd wanna know the answer to that, in your case. Sometimes it's better not to know...
To: Corin Stormhands
Yeah. Is there gonna be a Moot this year or what?

I dunno...I think the idea of a RockyMoot kinda got put on hold, what with certain people's plans being up in the air right now...
To: RosieCotton
Heh..
Well, decisions must be made soon. We must not be made to wait, right?
Certain plans need to take HHers into consideration after all.
