Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Anyone see the Rose Parade? My city was apparently represented by the local high school marching band. My father-in-law just called to tell me that more Allen residents were soaked in CA than at home in Allen.
The band has a reputation... they are VEY HUGH.
To: Peanut Gallery
I didn't see it... ;~\ sounds like a lousy day for a parade.

heh, looks like you have a couple of science types - "Is the glass half full or is less than half full"
The OB/LSA Christmas 2004 Season is officially over as the decorations are all in ~ the attic ~ and all ceilings are intact.
LSA has a Guiness and I have my Ginger Beer.

Well, I'm back.
I was hoping I didn't have to go back out today, but it just hit me that tomorrow is my sister's birthday. :-/
I can't believe I didn't think of it while I was at Target. ~sigh~

Halvah will still do that act if I leave a glass in her reach. She hasn't figured out the paw thing - Cleo would dip her paw and lick off the water or milk if she couldn't reach. It was cute enough to watch that she got away with murder...

Did the girls get anything cool?
To: osagebowman; Ramius
There is constant amazement everywhere if you can just see it like a kitten. :~D

The closest fire was seven miles to the west of us. We're fine. Watering the lawn, though! It's been incredible.
I'm waiting to hear if I'm going to be activated through Disaster Relief. They will have to page me, my phone is out...happened the same time as Steve putting up a fence for the chickens. Ugh, I hope he didn't hit the phone line!
I'll check back tomorrow from the library...it's closed today and Steve kindly let me use his office to catch up on my email and such. But I can't stick around...you know how it is.
See you tomorrow.

Yikes! Seven miles is plenty close enough! A wildfire can cover that distance in short order if the wind is right.

Whoops. :-)
Hair's birthday sneaks up on me like that too.
I'm terrible at birthdays. Ask anyone. :-)

Glad you're ok, 2J. It's pretty worrying...
Maybe this is why your trip to NO got cancelled! Maybe you'll be needed right at home!

Eek!

Boy, too bad you don't look like you had a good time. I mean, look how glum you both look :~D
I'm glad you didn't crop it too much, the wood is gorgeous.

They chose Disney movies, of course.
Bambi and Cinderella - Special Editions.
They also picked out one toy each. Becky got a "Fur Real Friend". It's a leopard kitten that meows and moves.
And Aly grabbed another annoying noise maker. Sesame Street Giggle Gang something or other. Basically, it's 3 characters singing "HA, HA, HO, HO, HEE, HEE" to the tune of various songs. :-/
