Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Mmmm...tomato scent. Yeah, nothing like it, is there? And I like marigolds, too. And though the mint I had back home had a tendency to try to take over the world...it sure was nice to be able to kick it a bit and have the whole area smell nice. ;-)
Oh, and wild thyme...I have nice memories tied up with that! If I have a place with a yard again, I'm gonna see if I can't get a bunch of that to grow...

Heh, it probably should not be seen by anyone!

What color yarn did you get? It's one of those multicolored yarns again - a textured one that has a white core yarn with a wispy, feathery yarn around it that goes through blue and pink and purple and a sort of turquoise - not quite a true green. It's very soft and fuzzy and a little hard to work with because the featheryness (is that a word?) makes it hard to differentiate the stitches, but I finally figured out that doing tiny rows of single crochet stitches with a very large hook seems to work best. Again, I'm using a Balene hook - it was a small set of large hooks. It works beautifully. The very first row (the chain row) looks a tiny bit pinched...think I didn't do it quite loosely enough. But I plan to put just a bit of fringe on when I'm done, and I'd think that'd cover things just fine.

I'd have to agree with you there!

Oh dear...
You know, people can laugh, but I have a good friend who has an electric wheelchair that had to be custom made for her, and it wasn't cheap, of course. If someone were to steal something like that...well, it's not funnny.
Hopefully these creeps take their joyride or whatever it is they plan to do with it and dump it. But I suppose that's highly unlikely.

Is it terribly evil for me to hope that they end up in a position where someone takes advantage of ~their~ helplessness?
What a vile thing to do to a person in need of help.

I finally had to apply the punishment that works (turn out all of the lights and shut the door).
The screams are awful and it breaks my heart to do it, but all I can say is that they haven't stepped out from that bed again since.
Sheesh. I'm tired.
Maybe that duct tape idea isn't so bad...

heheh... I'm not one for recommendations. Never really got the hang of the "getting kids to do what you want without beating them senseless" routine. :-)
I am, however, pretty good and ignoring shrieks of horrifying terror at not getting one's way. Shrieking back nose to nose while laughing eventually gets the point across though.
