The Hobbit Hole XXVI - Home is behind, the world ahead
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 12/11/2005 8:37:40 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Home is behind, the world ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Truth be told, most of my bedroom/bathroom stuff is white or some kind of blue. Dunno why, that's just the way it worked out.

Looks OK...

hehehehe....a little red, a little blue, a little brown....

Speaking of colors, I got a box in the mail today. It appears to be a present of some kind.

LOL...

When my daughters were young their Barbies were naked, had their hair cut off and were forced to live in a box under a bed.

Barbies are just askin' for it. That fixed smile, I think it is.

Heh...we also used to have a kitten that would haul my littlest sister's Barbies into his lair. He always seemed to drag 'em in face down, so they'd get stuck at the...em...chest part. Not a very nice thing to laugh about, but...

Poor Barbies.

I'd take markers and "dress" them.

Isn't that just tattooing?

Hmmm...well, yeah. I guess you could see it that way.

I would tattoo clothing onto her. Bikinis and such.

Heh...done that, too. Ever do duct tape clothing?

I know we also dissected at least one...wanted to see how the leg clicky thing worked.

And a neighbor boy coulda been the model for Sid. Used to do things like put firecrackers inside a Barbie's head to see what would happen. He was weird.

Southeast side of the oval seems like it should be right by Student Services. I think parking there would be easiest.

Hopefully I can find my way there! I've only walked...kinda different. But basically, isn't it turn left off Laurel, take the first right off the oval, and then the first left? Kinda?

Maybe I'll remember once I'm over there. *sigh* I guess that'll be part of my outting tomorrow.

Second right off of oval. First right is almost immediate. You want to go about halfway around the oval before turning. The rest of that is right.

I bought them together as a set. They aren't too spendy.

I'm waiting for Snow White to come out of the vault. And The Little Mermaid too.

My most favorite is Beauty & The Beast. Got that one first. :-D

Of course you're supposed to put firecrackers in Barbie's head. That's why they made the hole just the perfect size.

But bottle rockets don't work so good. It takes too many of them to lift a barbie off the ground, and getting that many to light simultaneously is tricky.

I had Beauty and the Beast on video...don't have a VCR, though. *sniff* I left it for my sister.

I want Sleeping Beauty, too.
