Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Heh, David, our #2 son called the other night and said he couldn't wait to get home for Christmas. He wants to hear some REAL Christmas music, not the "Jingle Bells crap" he's hearing everywhere. ;o)
I have very eclectic taste in Christmas music. I have some Celtic, Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque. I also have compilations of carols done by the choir of Kings College Chapel and by John Rutter's Cambridge Singers. It's like listening to the angels.

OB and I are pretty clueless about movies; I got the Tim Burton one 'cause of the title, and it was on sale!

I was watching a cooking show and Lidia showed how not to make a mess when ladling out batter, just use your other hand to put a saucer under the ladle and it catches the over-spill. One of those, duh, why didn't I think of that moments! LSA

You have a more advanced degree than I have and can use one of those.
I am also lazy.

My most "angelic" recording is a collection of Palestrina pieces (2 CDs worth) done by the Tallis Scholars. It's just incredible.
I really want a full recording of Handel's Messiah someday. We had it on record when I was growing up, but I don't have my own copy. Never seem to find one at an affordable price! I realize it's not all Christmas related...but it all connects. ;-)

Those do work vey well, though. That's what I have, too. Way better than the standard pull type corkscrews.
But life would be simpler if all of 'em came with screw tops. Probably that's heresy in some circles, but those ain't my circles anyhow!

My family send me a video they made for me...and I don't have a VCR. They know I don't have a VCR...don't know what they expect me to do with it. Man...a Christmas message from 'em and I can't even see it. *sniff*
Heh...I guess I could bring it to Best Buy and ask 'em if I can play it in one of the VCRs there, to see the quality of the player. Um. But that could be a bit embarrassing.

I wanted to go hear a symphony...a real one, you know? Some really sweet Beethoven would a have been great. Just let all that instrumentation wash over me.
I woulda put more effort into doing it if I'd known everything was gonna be the oppposite of stereo some day!
Whatever the opposite of stereo is...

Sounds a little scary...
At least you won't be shopping during a peak time. You should be relatively OK. Consoling thought?
Have fun!

Don't you know it! I went today sis and it was a mad house...I kid you not it was absolutely a madhouse.
I had to keep dashing back and forth just to get cans of pumpkin!

I don't handle madhouse well. That's how I ended up with hot pink gloves that don't go with a single thing I own. My brain just shuts off in crowded situations.
