The Hobbit Hole XXVI - Home is behind, the world ahead
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 12/11/2005 8:37:40 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Home is behind, the world ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I don't keep my squash in the fridge, maybe I should try that.

Hmmm....maybe I shouldn't put it in the fridge then?

Can't wait to see if the squash'll breed true or if it's a hybrid.

Most people are resentful of being awakened by noise, be it music, banging, shouting or, in our case, our neighbor's barking dogs. It it not being over-sensitive or any other type of ~fault~ to expect people to be respectful of others. When your upstairs neighbor gets his 100-acre spread he can play his music as loud as he wants, until then, oh well! LSA

I think I put in too many potatoes. Nothing a little liquid won't fix!! Since we had lunch out, I'm just going to make some popcorn a little later. Maybe we'll put on "It's A Wonderful Life". I watched "Tim Burton's The Nightmare before Christmas" last week. Not that memorable a movie, but I am just so amazed with those claymation figures...

I'm still listening to Celtic Christian Spirit! It's beautiful!

You know that StarKindler is my favorite album...all of this is along those same lines. Some of it's kindy "Enya" like...New-Age-ish, you know. But I like that too.

I like listening to music with all kinds of levels to it...before I lost my hearing I was really good at picking out individual instruments and such and following them along. Now I'm not so good at it, but I still am in the habit of trying.

The jedis are out buying me "Christmas presents". I know what I'm getting...spatulas. Some rubber spatulas in different sizes! LOL! I'm glad...I only have two spatulas that are industrial sized that I got when a bar closed down and sold all their stuff here.

Sometimes you just need a moderately sized spatula, you know? LOL!

Boxed wine is a miracle. Who in their right mind would fart around with a cork???

Heh.

I ran out of pot space, so it'll have to be thick until it reaches left-over status.

I've gotIt's a Wonderful Life from Netflix this weekend. Going to watch it tomorrow.

Have y'all seen any of Nick Parks's work; Wallace and Gromit: "The Wrong Trousers" or "Grand Day Out", or Chicken Run. He is truly gifted, and the shows are just hilarious!

The kids are getting me a pancake batter dispenser so I can just squirt the batter right down on the griddle and not make a mess like I usually do. That way I'll make pancakes more often.

I see the ploy!
