The Hobbit Hole XXVI - Home is behind, the world ahead
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 12/11/2005 8:37:40 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Home is behind, the world ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'm gonna have to check out the rest of the stuff on live365...they must have a ton of interesting "stations"!

I found stations that play old radio programs and some that just play mystery, sci-fi, whatever. Even found the Apollo 11 radio transmissions there....just ask Hair and ecurbh!

I'm not sure I like either option.

RL name comes out as: Frosty Brandy butter-Cracker

Corin Stormhands comes out as: Lucky Horny-Helper

I guess I can call the office today and just clarify what it is I'm supposed to do about this.

It was after five when it quit. And then I woke up at eight thirty. So...basically he went on from eleven or so until five. Not QUITE allllll night, but close enough.

Oh dear...apparently I'm Trumpy Holly-Toes.

But that's better than what I get using Rosie Cotton: Cutie Dancing-Cheeks. Eek!

What a bummer to deal with...

No easy answers, the response of the onsite building manager was not encouraging.

I'd definately complain though... and often... until you annoy them into anoying the guy.

LOL!! I'm Lucky Dancing-Elf. Clare is Cutie Dancing-Helper!

Clare is now a legal driver and everything! WooHoo! She said the Road Test was dead simple, and only took a few minutes. Glad that's over. Now we just have Joseph who needs to get that task done. He can get his permit in February, but can't get his license until he's 16 1/2, in August, but at least he'll have it before he goes back to school in September.

I got some packages shipped this morning. One to my nephew, Alexander in Afghanistan (the Hobbit Hole Gerber Air crew knife recipient), and the other to Chrissy in Iraq, the daughter of some friends here in town. She's a West Point grad, a Capt. in Army Intelligence attached to a Stryker Brigade. Sent them each some Candy Cane lights, Christmas candy, a poker set with cards and chips, a few other little things and Chocolate!

Now we're off to UPS. I have some returns to make, and we're hoping we can pick up the TV we've ordered for the family. It made it to our town late on Friday, but not in time to make it on to the truck for delivery. If we can't get it today, we'll have to wait until Monday, but SirKit wanted to get it set up before the boys get home, if we could.

When do the boys get home? Really soon, no?

Well...I called the office again. She's gonna confirm what it is I should do and call back. *sigh* So...there's that.

She just called back. Just asked if it was the apartment right above ours - I hadn't mentioned who it was the first time. Makes me wonder if someone else has called about him, too. I hope so!

Sorry to be so obsessed about this, but goin' on two days without much sleep, I can't help it!

Paul gets home tomorrow, sometime, and David flies in on Tuesday. Today is 'clean out the dining room day', of all the stuff that has collected there since Thanksgiving. I'd gathered all the lights, and am going to put some on the bushes outside, and on the windows in the kitchen. I'll wrap gifts on the dining room table, then I'll have most of the stuff out of there. Then we'll start setting up the Christmas tree!
