In one South Florida community, a man's holiday decorations are causing holiday fear for local children instead of creating holiday cheer.
Residents called police and complained to the city that a house in Miami Beach had a life-sized, blindfolded Santa Claus doll hanging from a tree with its hands tied.
Some residents were furious and said their naughty neighbor put jolly old St. Nick in a position that is not too merry. But even police officers couldn't save a Santa who was bound, gagged and hanging for the holidays.
The owner of the house said it's freedom of speech. But his neighbors think it's the start of a creepy Christmas.
"It's not healthy. I mean, if somebody has something against Santa Claus or something, maybe express it in some other way," resident Lori Vega said.
Parents are afraid the decoration will cause a nightmare before Christmas for their children.
"I'm not sure what his reasoning is, but a lot of little kids are upset by it," one parent said.
The owner of the house said the Santa Claus was an artistic expression.
Some residents said the damage is already done.
"He might be the Grinch. He might be friendly with the Grinch," resident Joanie Stein said. Stein, who has lived on the block for years, said the dangling Santa sickens him. "It's a beautiful neighborhood and I think it's just weird. I've never seen anything like this here."
The homeowner said the hanged Santa Claus would be down by Wednesday.
Something tells me you are drunk right now...
Unfortunately no. I would like to be, does that count.
Surely you can find some rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover somewhere around where you work, you just gotta be creative.
The house would of been severly T-PEED if it was done in my neighborhood as a kid...
She's gone.
I probably won't be able to see my granddaughter again. Stepdaughter and granddaughter in Abilene, TX in a unheated house with no hot water and I can't do anything about that. Current temp in Abilene...20F.
She spent $3.2K on non-family in IL last month.
Tacky, but very funny!
Maybe he has taken your advice about saucing it up for Christmas. >:-}
My sisters best friend has a cat named Ollie.
Ollie absolutely hates Santa, and will destroy any decorations that look like the jolly red suited dude.
Ollie tore the head off of a stuffed Santa, and also tore the head off of a Santa tree ornament...
Wonder how that neigborhood would react to Ollie the Santa Slayer...
Ollie the Santa Slayer.....I can see it....I like it....MOVIE HIT!
Santa best be bringing Ollie some 'Fancy Feast' this Christmas if he wants to get back on Ollie's good side!
I did a sketch, cartoon style, for Ollies 'mom' of Ollie leaping from behind the couch to nail Santa.
A small sign written with paw prints says "Wait here", and Santa is standing on a red bulls eye facing away from the leaping Ollie.
Hopefully!
Ollie kitty is very spoiled as well.
LOL, that is classic. I think you have a big movie on your hands! I see a cult-classic in the making.
lol....
The home of Edna, the Whip Lady. Dare I say, Here Comes Santa Claus?
parsy, who is not as twisted as the person who did this.
Maybe, IF Ollie will cooperate for filming.
He will see the camera and preen for it.
I'll have to ask Stace if she can get him to do the Attack Cat act on camera.
Last time she tried to get a pic of it, he turned to his 'mommy' and acted innocent.
If you think that's bad, you should have seen the snowman we built the year we got a good snowfall. Remember Calvin and Hobbes? People slowed down to check it out :-D
The kids had their little hearts set on building a snow snake, but there wasn't enough snow. They were even running back and forth across the street with a wheelbarrow, to get more of it.
