In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
malversation \mal-ver-SAY-shun\ noun
1. misbehavior and especially corruption in an office, trust, or commission *
2. corrupt administration
*Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.
A picture of bill clinton appears next to this word in the dictionary
Example sentence:
The governor was finally convicted of malversation, after years of rumors about kickbacks and illegal contracts.
Did you know?
The form "mal-" is often a bad sign in a word, and "malversation" is no exception. In Middle French, "mal-" (meaning "bad," from the Latin word for "bad," "malus") teamed up with "verser" ("to turn, handle," from the Latin verb "vertere," "to turn ") to create "malverser," a verb meaning "to be corrupt." This in turn led to "malversation," which was adopted by English speakers in the mid-16th century. Some other "mal-" descendants are "maladroit" ("inept"), "malcontent" ("discontented"), and "maltreat" ("to treat badly").
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

Holy moley! I hate ice on the roads.
gee and it didn't even get wall to wall tv coverage either!
I'm not even going to ask the gubmint to subsidize my new digital TV set....silly me.
Yeah, even though it was obviously George W. Bush's fault....
I didn't have any plans to go anywhere tomorrow - so it's not a big deal to me.........I do have to run some errands this morning to pick up a few things for all the cooking i am planning to do tomorrow
I had the woodstove and the fireplace going as well as the furnace last night, too.
This is the second year in a row it has been this cold this early in the season here-I'm hoping it will also warm up a bit in later winter like last year.
Very silly :)
Did it go all the way to Minnesota? I'll have to call my sis. They are self-sufficient, too.
As long as the sun keeps shining, I can handle the cold........but it was so wet last winter that it seemed like it was dark for months, which only madeit that mcuh worse.
You certainly have that right-you have to wonder if people like that aren't lacking the most basic survival skills.
I've got the car warming up and I finally found my gloves and hat, so I'm off to see a customer-back later...
There have been studies done on that. I can't give you a link because I can't remember who wrote it, I think it was the JAMA. But you should keep lights on in the house later at night and earlier in the morning. It keeps you on a regular schedule.
oh but the hillbilly has his moonshine still to keep him warm doesn't he? ; )
You have the same temperature we do! We're all complaining because it's our second growing season. All new plants are covered.
This morning it is about 20 degrees but at least the precip is gone. Roads were pretty much clear for my drive in to work this morning.
Actually, I'm sipping the store-bought stuff these days.
8-)
Good for you! The Weather Channel had you right in the midst of it.
I don't know if I'd drink anything that was named "Buffalo Trace." Sounds like something that comes out of a buffalo's body.
Spirit of the season survives despite vicious, senseless vandalism
i can't believe someone could be so despicable to destroy Christmas light displays.
The guy that wrote the column is the morning talk show host I listen to and he just said he's going to have the homeowner on his show in the 10am hour.
It's been quite a few years, but I used to really enjoying driving up to see this guy's annual light display.
