In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
malversation \mal-ver-SAY-shun\ noun
1. misbehavior and especially corruption in an office, trust, or commission *
2. corrupt administration
*Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.
A picture of bill clinton appears next to this word in the dictionary
Example sentence:
The governor was finally convicted of malversation, after years of rumors about kickbacks and illegal contracts.
Did you know?
The form "mal-" is often a bad sign in a word, and "malversation" is no exception. In Middle French, "mal-" (meaning "bad," from the Latin word for "bad," "malus") teamed up with "verser" ("to turn, handle," from the Latin verb "vertere," "to turn ") to create "malverser," a verb meaning "to be corrupt." This in turn led to "malversation," which was adopted by English speakers in the mid-16th century. Some other "mal-" descendants are "maladroit" ("inept"), "malcontent" ("discontented"), and "maltreat" ("to treat badly").
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

But I already *have* boobs.
[I'm much more enchanted by the things that I *don't* have]....>;]
What a loser. It's amazing the lack of cogintive capacity some lack. When my dad had his installed, the guy spent almost all day, and never made the final connection. He also left behind an almost brand new Milwaukee 1/2 hole hawg drill. My dad tried to call the guy, but apparently it was his last day and left no forwarding info. They are not cheap. It now graces my toolbench.
Only the dummies hang around with skanks...
xsboy is home and mastering the DVR so when his father comes home he can show him how to do everything : )
Don't give him the v-chip code!
Once again the tiger is correct.
You should have just gone with the self-install kit and had the boy do it.
XOM is at $58.92
I think it's time to up the dividend as the yield is starting to look weak.
self install? i don't think so. admittedly the tv is complicated. it is never just plug it in and turn it on with this stuff. i had to dig out the instructions for the tv etc. and there is the HD component that factors in somehow. we supposedly already had HD service to that tv for a least a year but this guy said that it was never hooked up properly RME!
You're reading Aristophanes? Good for you! I read Frogs back in high school and don't remember a bit of it. I should go back to the Greek classics one of these days.
Thanks!
Why?
LOL...Actually, I was reading Strauss, who was in turn lecturing on Socrates, and by extension the Aristophanean Socrates...
I think this is how men feel about boobs. If we had them, we'd spent all day molesting ourselves and not get anything important done, like burping, steak-eating, beer-drinking, football-watching, etc.
Hah!!! Well, double good for you!
