Maybe one should go beyond Wikipedia to more learned sources: say, James Beck "The three worlds of Michelangelo" (W.W. Norton, NY 1999), p.143: "[Michelangelo's] sexual experiences, whether heter- or homosexual, were minimal - and possibly non-existent". Ross King, "Michelangelo and Pope's ceiling", (Penguin, NY, 2003) pp 196-197, builds the same case. Besides, to live till age 89 [he died 3 weeks short] in almost perfect health with the capacity to work almost till his deathbed would be incongruent with highly permissive lifestyle. Old debauchees normally die slowly and in decrepitude.

There has been a concerted effort on may fronts to "prove" that Michelangelo was gay. However, I assure you, the only real evidence that the buttsex crowd has are the fact that his statues make them horny, and that people used the term more freely in the letters and conversations of the time. There is NO documentation, merely wishful thinking. It is, in fact, more likely that he was having sex with Vittoria Colonna, a relationship that he would have also have gone out of his way to hide, given the morality of the time.
