Dear Postal Customer
With the holiday season upon us, I would like to take this opportunity to say "HAPPY HOLIDAYS"
[snip]
That's it -- no Christmas!
A visit to usps.com shows "Madonna and Child" stamps, and those with Santa Claus -- but the word Christmas never appears.
It's so ridiculous. If 85% of the population (if not more) celebrate Christmas in some way or another, why not say Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays?
Soon the card manufacturers will no longer print Christmas cards.
LOL -- one of those memories of days long past!
I don't know why anybody uses stamps. They don't make email go any faster and plus they'd be hard to pick off the monitor.

But.. but...It's the Republicans ruining Christmas!
Bill Press says so! And dnC-Span gave him a forum to say it!
Not what I said -- care to read it again?

Read it, posted it in my reply. So what's the problem with these stamps. What is your position.
got it
I emailed them and got this wimpy response...
Dear Melanie,
We have a Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee made up of non-postal personnel who select all new stamps that we issue each year. Please send your suggestion to the following address:
Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee

Common suggestions for new stamps include stamps to honor a person. We'd like to point out that a person can only have a stamp issued in their image if they have been deceased for at least ten years. The only exceptions to this are stamps honoring a President of the United States.
We hope this information has been helpful and answered your question. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for visiting and supporting our web sites.

Thanks! I'll get in touch with these devoted citizens, and ask them what they think they're doing -- and volunteer my opinion.
The "Chrismahanukwanzakah" stamp !
Welcome..
Has the word "Christmas" appeared on the Madonna or Santa stamps in prior years? Anyone have any leftovers to check?
some said that the word diud not appear on the list. I hope we don't need to see the word Christmas on a picture of Santa Claus or the Madonna and Child to understand that.
The USPS seems to be AVOIDING THE USE OF THE WORD "CHRISTMAS."
