I received an e- mail stating;
Tom this looks interesting may give you some additional insight on usage of your web site. www.google.com/analytics/
This turns out to be a free website tracker from Google as to where the traffic on your site comes from .
As part of the package from my web host I have a lite version of Webalizer 2 which gives me info ;but not in the detail I would like.
i.e. I have hundreds of sites that send traffic to my non-commercial site but I get only the top 30 referrers, and can't break it down to a day basis.
I have a few questions: Is it possible to have more than one website analizer device on your site at the same time? (Such as Webtrends, Google Analyitic, and Webalizer.)
Would multiple analizers slow the site down?
Has anyone tried the new Google Analytics?
How detailed is it. Can you select an individual day and get all the referrers for that day and the number of people reffered? - Tom
I think you're thinking of Nougat.
To-may-to, To-mah-to?
Let's call the whole thing off!
Apparently Google Analyitics is a program formally called Urchin. Google bought it out and is now giving it out as a so-called free item.
As newgeezer asks "What's the catch?"
I guess I will have to wait awhile until people have more experience with it, and find an Internets forum on webtrackers to get and idea of what it is all about.
TG good luck with your new forum. - Tom
