Interesting Political Movie
chaintrio

Posted on 11/21/2005 7:38:51 PM PST by chaintrio

Has anyone seen The Defender? It's an action movie with Dolph Lundgren. But it has a good political plot. It's really smart--for a Dolph Lundgren film. The story is mainly about a national security team that has to protect the secretary of defense while she has a secret meeting with a terrorist. I don't want to give any of the good plot twists away, but it's a quite a shocker.

I don't need to know anything about the movie. What you wrote is proof you're insane.

alt So on a lighter note....

you wanna see a movie with jerry springer as president! (wouldnt be too different than reality, huh?...just a different dumb***.....sorry i had to!)...no really though, i saw this pretty cool action flick the other night, "The Defender" Dolph Ludgren (kick ass dude from He-Man, Rocky IV...remember?)...stars in it and its his directorial debut....lots of action AND a great plot...there is no official websit, but there are numerous reviews at amazon.com...let me know what you think!

Highly intelligent and extremely well educated -- earning an MA at Stockholm's Royal Institute of Technology and a Fulbright Fellowship at MIT -- Dolph Lundgren is better known for his athletic achievements than his intellectual pursuits. An internationally recognized kick-boxing champion.....

Just because you don't think Dolph is very bright doesn't mean his B-movies can't be fun. I have never seen this particular one but I have seen him interviewed and he is a very intelligent man.

Plot Summary for
The Defender (2004)

Today - the global war on terror rages on. The United States will not give an inch against terrorists, especially Mohamed Jamar, considered to be the worst of them all. Jamar has been missing for months, but his network continues its function. The President stands firm before the world, but behind the scenes his teams are working to find the final solution. Jamar represents a paradox: he can never be killed, because if found dead he would become an instant martyr. If caught he must be tried. If he is found guilty he would become a martyr and further inspiration to acts of terror. If acquitted, the policies of the entire western world would be destroyed. So he must remain invisible. Roberta Jones, the head of the National Security Agency, is working to ensure he remains invisible, forever. Under the guise of attending an Eastern European conference on Terror in Romania, she attends a secret meeting with Jamar at a secluded hotel outside Bucharest. No one knows about this meeting and her goal is to buy his invisibility. Her only companions are her security team of six headed by her personal bodyguard, Lance Rockford. They are the best of the best, former military special forces personnel capable of anything. When they arrive at the hotel for the secret meeting they are ambushed no one is supposed to know about the meeting, but someone wants it stopped. They have to fight for their lives against an unknown attacker. Lance, a man of highest integrity with an impressive record of service for his country, is forced into a situation which challenges his very beliefs..

I don't like the spammer either, that pretty much goes without saying. I have also seen several of Dolph's movies. They were alway fun in an b grade movie kind of way. That is one of the reasons they are fun. It just bothers me to see someone imply the the actor is dumb because of the movies he likes to make.

I wonder why he's never broken out of B-movie status

Plot the career paths of anyone after co-starring with Sylvester Stallone. It's a curse, I tell you.

If I had to guess, I would say that he enjoys what he does. You have to admit that it would be fun to just go around being the good/bad guy blowing up things. He doesn't have to pretend that he has some all encompasing political agenda, he just wants to have fun and make money doing it.

I think there's some obscure "Dolph-Lundgren-Brigitte-Nielsen-Photo-Post" rule in effect.

(this is one of the only decent ones I could find)
