ABC is turning out the lights on its freshman series "Night Stalker," pulling the plug after six episodes that struggled to find audiences up against TV's top-rated series, "CSI."

I watched every episode of Night Stalker. It was painful but I wanted to give it a fair chance (I also watched CSI too - I have VCRs and 2 TVs).
It was God-awful. Stuart Townsend as a metrosexual Carl Kochak??? Gabrielle Union can't act - unless you call intensity acting. None of the characters were sympathetic. I'm amazed that ABC bought the show in the first place.
The best modern movies and tv programs are genuinely great (if rare).
The worst are almost impossibly bad.
The vast majority are in the middle - they just stink. :-)
True, but she's a looker.
She is definitely that.
What a Godawful show! Of course, it was foolish to try and update the original. I really dug the first "Night Stalker." Yes, the special effects were lame- I remember one episode where Kolchak was menaced by a guy wearing a rubber alligator head- but the writing was clever and the show was pretty spooky in a dark, early '70's kinda way.
The original wasn't bad at all... kind'a goofy with McGavin dressed like a carnival pitchman.
Yep. The seersucker suit and straw stingybrim hat. I thought the hat was pretty cool, myself.
A guy sees his best friend on the street. The friend is wearing a flamboyant outfit. Lime colored trousers, a puff sleeved, lavender shirt, a puce ascot, etc... So he asks his friend, "what in the world is wrong with you?"
"Oh, my wife," the friend replies.
"Your wife?" queries the first guy.
"Yea. I saw an ad in the paper for Cox's Men's Store. They were having a great sale on seersucker suits. So I told her, go to Cox's and buy me one of those seersucker suits. So what does she do? She goes to Sears and buys me (...) suit."
