My .44 and .45 don't bother me at all when firing but the .50 even two handed really kicks. After 10 shots I felt like I had spent a weekend shooting and the numbness last about 1/2 hour.AWB

WOW. That must really kick a lot to do that to somone used to 44 and 45.

Find a good gun range that rents guns; we have scotssdale gun club here where I tried it out. It cost like $50 to rent it with 10 rounds of ammo and range time. I was the first one to fire all ten rounds (though they had only had the .50 for about 3 months when I went in). Clerk said most people return the .50 cal after 5 rounds and gave back the other 5 rounds. They are powerful!AWB

HOWEVER.... Hydrazine, which was, and still is, used in many hypergolic rocket engines(titan II, used them, as did the thrusters in the Apollo CSM, and satellites use it today,) Hydrazine is VERY dangerous!!!! As I have read, and heard, it is WAY more dangerous, to be around,. than hydrogen, or such. It gives off heavy fumes, and breathing just a whiff will kill!! It is good, when used with Nitrogen tetroxide for an oxidizer, in that it needs no spark to fire, but too dangerous to be handled by inexperienced persons.
Ouch, I think it was hydrazine, I'll have to look it up again. Don't ant to mess with that stuff, OI also heard it was corrosive, IIRC. My uncle worked on the Titan and Titan II's before his NASA days so I'm sure he worked with it at one time.

I can't find any good gun range at all. I've looked and looked and looked. They're all too far away.

Have you checked the NRA website for gun ranges (I am not an NRA member nor do I endorse the NRA)? They have a list of gun ranges and you may find some that won't find through normal channels. Just my 2 cents.AWB

Hmmm, never thought of that maybe ones who are into science fiction, alternate history, role playing games and so on. I have some ideas though, on how the perfect hybrid vehicle would use a micro or mini gas turbine engine, except for the time in 1993 when someone used a microturbine in GM EV1, I'm surprised no one had picked that up.
