BRUSSELS, Belgium - A little-known Belgian songwriter won a plagiarism case against Madonna on Friday, leading a local court to ban the megastar's song "Frozen" from sale or broadcast in the country.

Songwriter Salvatore Acquaviva's suit had alleged that Madonna's 1998 hit off the album "Ray of Light" plagiarized parts of his song, "Ma Vie Fout L'camp (My Life's Getting Nowhere)," which had been written five years earlier.

"The judge has ruled Madonna must withdraw from sales all remaining disks, and orders that TV and radio can no longer play 'Frozen,'" Acquaviva's lawyer, Victor-Vincent Dehin, said.

No damages were set.

Madonna can appeal the ruling. A call to the singer's New York-based publicist, Liz Rosenberg, was not immediately returned.

I steal the Songs Lyrics:(sung to the tune of I write the songs) I’ve been a plagurist forever, And I stole the very first song. I stole the words and the melodies together, I am thieving, And I steal the songs.

I steal the songs that make the whole world sing. I steal the songs of love and special thing s. I steal the songs that make the young girls cry. I steal the songs, I steal the songs.

This is why many labels don't accept unsolicited contributions. For fear someone will come back several years later and say 'hey you stole my song'

As much as I think that "Madonna" is a worthless, talentless pig,how can she be expected to know anything about the work of a "little-known Belgian songwriter"?

This certainly doesn't resemble the "My Sweet Lord" vs "He's So Fine" lawsuit."He's So Fine" was a smash hit in all English speaking countries.I'll wager that this French song wasn't a minor hit even in French speaking countries, let alone the US or the UK,where "Madonna" hangs out.

I was at a Neil Diamond concert at the Staples Center a little over a month ago. He sang one of his new songs at the show (it was a good song) and I leaned over and asked my date "Is it me, or do most of his lyrics sound alike?"

She insisted he only has a couple of paragraphs of material that he keeps on recycling! GOOD SHOW, though!

Mr. Diamond rips himself off! ;-)

"The judge has ruled Madonna must pull all discs.."I don't understand the law,but wouldn't the songwriter be better off allowing continued sales but being awarded a percentage of all previous and future sales?

The first time I heard "My Sweet Lord", I thought it sounded exactly like Chiffons' "He's So Fine". The courts agreed.

Traditionally,
"pop divas" get their songs from
professional types

who make it their job
to listen to everything
so they can sell crap

to all their buyers.
Music business scum is the
lowest of all scum . . .
