'Police? My onion rings are cold!' (Louisiana)
ananova.com ^ | 11/18/05

A US woman was arrested for calling 911 after a restaurant served her cold onion rings.

Sharita Williams, 30, of Houma, Louisiana, told police the food was cold when she received it and the waiter refused to replace it.

So she dialled 911 from the Malt-N-Burger restaurant in Thibodaux, reports the Daily Comet.

Police turned up - but only to arrest Williams for wasting police time. She is due in court in December.

Well it sounded stupid until I read the story. Her food wasn't right and they refused to make it right. What else are you suppose to do?

Some folks take their Onion Rings way too seriously.

Let me fix that Sharita Williams, 30, of Houma, Louisiana, told police her brain was cold when she received it and God refused to replace it.

I suggest Miss Williams avoid a certain New York eatery.

I could understand calling the police if your french fries are cold ~ cold french fries are gross ~ but cold onion rings ain't that bad.

My neighbor called 911 because her cat was a the tree in my front yard. She wasted their time too, but wasn't arrested - I was.

That cat wasn't coming down anytime soon. Because it was dead. Because I had shot it.

I was only kidding. I'm going to eat some more coffee (directly out of the can, by the fistful) before saying anything else. Sorry.

Calling 911 for a non-emergency will get one into trouble, however, she could have merely called the police station to report the manager for not providing a paid for service. She should definitely have called the health department to report unsafe food preparation/service. If the onion rings were cold then who knows what other items weren't cooked to proper temperatures.

My son is a cop and he responded to a 911 call from a 15 year old girl who said her older brother was hitting her.

It turned out that the brother threw a french fry at her from across the table and hit her in the forehead.

She got to hear a little lecture about frivilous 911 calls.

Sharita Williams, 30, of Houma, Louisiana

I think this lady has gotten used to help from emergency services. Here she is (three years ago, I think), being lifted out a ground floor window:

Sharita Williams, center, is helped out of her flooded home by Houma police officer Wayne Smith, right, and a neighbor, left, after Tropical Storm Isidore made landfall early Thursday.

Unsafe food prep for Onion Rings?
You need a lesson in food service regulations yourself.

I think the idea is if the deep fryer ain't cooking a little onion ring who knows what it's doing with things like chicken that pose a health threat if undercooked.

I bought hamburgers from checkers once and bit into a bloody burger, when I took it back the staff there said the grill hasn't been working good today! Yet they sold meat cooked on a broken grill. P!ssed me right off that they would take chances with my families health for a few bucks. Never ate food there again and it burnt down soon after, guess that grill still wasn't working right. Probably shorted that place right out.
